It's Home!

My name is Tim and I just pulled my new 12 1/2 MC? home yesterday!!!
I had another deal fall through back in December but its all worked out finding this little trailer which is the size I really wanted. It is in great shape considering age. Just enough cosmetic stuff to refurbish to make it our own. On my way to photograph, clean and measure everything.

I welcome any comments or suggestions, experiences.

I'm sure I'll be back with photos and questions.

thanks
tim

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the group and congrats on your Sunline purchase. Looking at the pictures it appears that you have truly found a VERY well kept Sunline. The exterior & decals looks fantastic from what I can see in the photos.

"IF" you have any questions about anything, this is the place to get your answers, so don't hesitate to answer.

You don't mention where your located, but if you can make one of our Sunline rallies, we'd love to have you join us. Plus we'd love to have a "tour" of your Sunline

Kitty

Kitty

Thanks for the warm welcome! Just came in from 5 hours stripping out the trailer. This was part of the plan to get it down as far as needed to uncover any issues and re-work the tired finishes. The pictures tell the story, EVERYTHING was removed. I am not surprised at what we found or displeased with my purchase in any way. The water damage was caused by water getting in through the running lights, amazing no caulking around any of them front or back.

Looking forward to putting it back together. I don't intend to re-use the fridge, heater or stove and not sure if the floor plan will go back as it was. I am curious about what others have done to replace their refrigerators, is it possible to just run a small electric only one?

Not sure if this is the vin or Good Sam club # 1252?04

be back soon with more questions

tim

Hi Tim

Welcome to Sunline Owners Club!

It looks like you have a "project" there. Cool!

You mentioned the fridge, yes some have just put in a small electric unit. You will have to be creative I believe on a good lack so it does not fly open going down the road and secure the fridge itself.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

John

Hi Tim,

This is some other number. Based on the number, I don't believe it's the RVIA tag number from the plate by the entry door outside.

Your VIN should be stamped in the left side of the front coupler (if it's still original), or it will be stamped into a small metal plate under the entry door floor sill plate. Remove the screws holding that plate down and once you pop it off, you should see a plate stapled there.

Hi Tim,

I don't think that's the VIN. It's too many digits. It does look like the RVIA plate number though, which puts it at either a late 1978 or 1979 model.

The RVIA plate number has no significance to Sunline specifically. The plate just indicates that the trailer was built to RVIA (Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) standards and they number and register the plate numbers to prevent illegal reproduction. I don't have a lot of data for those years to know what numbers were the break points for Sunline model years, so I really need the VIN to know for sure.

Jon

Sorry about that, ofcourse you're right that is the RVIA #, I thought it was the same. I haven't found the number by the door sill, I will check the tongue.

Welcome aboard. Good to have another New Englander with us. Looks like an aggressive restoration you have going on this 12 1/2 MC!
