inttoduction

Hello everyone, as you can see by this post I am a newbie to the club. Recently I purchased an older 1988 20 ft Sunline TT . It seems like they really put some quality into these campers as I have been going through everything checking it out. It does have some issues that I will have to get straightened out. But its nothing I can't get by for now. But my question is I live down here in southern Okla and I was wondering if a small electric space heater would be sufficient to use during the winter in regards to winterizing it. If I don't winterize it as we use it for winter hunting trips will this heater be sufficient if I open all the access doors inside the camper. And set the space heater on a low setting. What do y'all think???? Thanks in advance for the advice..

Well how cold does it get there? If it can get to below freezing during the day then yes you should winterize it. An electric heater may keep you warm but it will take a long time to get it to a comfortable temp. and pretty expensive just to keep the camper warm so that it doesn't freeze. Why not just winterize it and carry jugs of water for use and antifreeze for the toilet when you go hunting?

winterizing

Thanks for the info. This is my first camper that is self contained. I have been using a 12 ft canned ham1949 Bell wood so you can imagine the difference in amenities.

I agree with Tim. Bring water and a porta-potty or similar.

I have and do use a heater in my TT's to extend the season here in New England, but that is just for late fall early winter.

If I were going for something more fortified against the elements, I would berm or skirt with straw bales around the outside and Frost King window treatment inside.

Protecting the waste tanks could be the biggest challenge I think. Tank heating pads for them and/or keeping them empty.

Hotel reservations would possibly be the cheapest solution.

P.S. Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your "new to you" TT and post some pictures! We like to see peoples pictures.....even canned ham 1949 Bell Woods!

Welcome to the SOC! Great place to get your questions answered. Would love to see some pixs of the '49 Bell Wood. Happy camping!
