Hi from North Carolina!

Jay and Michelle here and we just got our 1978 17 1/2 foot Sunline camper yesterday! The wife wanted a "vintage camper" and this is about as vintage as you can get I think. It's hard to believe it was built in 78, the year I graduated from high school. The last time I camped I was about ten years old and it was in a Cox camper popup. It was some good times then and I hope it will be now.

We are going to restore our camper so we can use it whenever possible. I am a huge train fan and I can see me camping in places like Folkston, GA, Pine Junction, IN and West Virginia near the tracks. She has ideas of lakes and parks I think? We are extremely nervous about doing all this. At least we have everything and it will be a learn by doing process. I'm sure I can handle any woodwork and other things since I have something to go by. I am not mechanically inclined and that worries me about the stove, heater, etc. I do know this is not going to be a six month project, more like a couple of years if I had to bet?

I will have pics on my Flickr account that I hope can be used to post on here?
I already have a couple of videos about the camper on my Youtube channel. I have been reading the forum before I posted and I'm glad to see such a wealth of information on here. That is going to be a huge help! We will have lots of questions I'm sure so please bear with us. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Welcome Jay and Michelle!

Congrats on your new Sunny! Yes, you do have a vintage camper their, all of the Sunlines are now collectors items.

And we have many who have done small and large restorations. Yes, if you have basic wood working skills and some tools, this is just a big wood working project. How big is big, well that all depends the condition of your camper.

On the mechanical side of things we can help there too. We can see how it goes and if all of your appliances come back to life along with the axles, brakes etc. Everything in these Sunline is fixable/replaceable. Sometimes we need to upgrade as parts may not be available, but everything is restorable with upgrades even. And we can help on upgrading some of the methods of construction for better water sealing that have been learned over the years.

You can link in Flicker pics without issues. I have a Flicker account and link in pics all the time. You can also upload pics direct to the site if needed/wanted. Here is some help on posting pics.
https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post86041

And if you want, to create a photo-album here on the site https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post87945

For U tube videos, you can embed a link in post and it will show here. See here for more https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post86808

Suggest you create a new post in the Repair and Maintenance forum for your general restoration. This can house the bigger rebuild work. And you can create separate posts on specific items, like how to get the fridge working, the camper brakes, the stove etc.

We look forward to seeing and hearing about your Sunline adventures. Good times ahead!

Hope this helps

John

Just a shout out from a former COX camper popup owner. We used it for 30 years w/3 kids and M&D. First two K's went camping at 6 mos.old. Hung them in a tree in their Jolly Jumper. Since we're in the Last Quarter of life we planned ahead and upgraded to a 2007 Sunny 2753. Great move for us....
Enjoy your Sunny too. John B is a Great resource for all things Sunny
