Hi, First Sunline and First TT here
Hi everyone, Just wanted to introduce, we are Dan and Debbie in Massachusetts. We just bought a 1986 Satellite 2460 (we need to verify the model, but that is the closest the brochure got us). We found it online and took a drive to see, it is in immaculate conditionfor the age, could call it a one owner, but the family we got it from bought it in '89, they had to take the packaging off the bunks though. The only fault we were told about is that the hot water heater leaks and will need replacement, it has been bypassed since 1989. Any clues on how to do that would be appreciated
More important to me is that this is our first big camper, moving up from pop-ups and I am not sure what tow equipment we will need. I have an '08 Silverado Crew Cab, with a Curt class 3/4 hitch installed. I still need to make a final connection, but have installed a trailer brake and connected the 7 pin trailer electrical connector.
We have the 3 bunk option in the back and are looking at converting that into a full/queen bunk over next winter. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Dan and Debbie!
Welcome to the SOC!
I suggest that you post your tow vehicle question(s) in the tow vehicle forum.. That would probably have the best chance, of getting a timely response!
Again, Welcome!

We brought her home today, tows very nice with the load balancing hitch that the seller threw in. Verified the model, it was advertised as a 24 foot, but is in fact a 2260 with front dinette lounge and rear criss cross three bunk. Getting up close and personal pulling out the water heater discovered some water damage, but nothing to cry about in a 25 year old unit. So far everything else works as advertised and we are gonna driveway camp tonight just for fun

Hi Christid01
Welcome to Sunline Owners Club and congrats on your new coach. And I too agree it looks in great shape for a camper that old. And the decals look great!!! They don’t make them like they use too…
I notice you talked about a WD hitch and one is included with the TT. By your pics that is a Reese trunnion bar hitch with the older standard Dual Cam unit. A very good hitch. If you need help with the hitch, let us know.
Happy camping and we look forward to seeing and hearing about your Sunline camping adventures.
John
PS, Nice looking truck too!

Hey thanks everyone for the compliments! The weather isn't helping, but we did get a good clean up done last weekend. We pulled the hot water heater and are searching for a cost effective fix, the tank was completely rotted through the bottom!. I can replace the tank only for around $170, but wonder if it wouldn't be wiser to replace the entire unit...... but who wants to spend that much money?
Can't believe I got a truck compliment from a Ford driver Thanks John, expect I will be picking your brain as time goes by as others have.

christid01,
I'm not a hard brand truck guy. Prior to this F350 I had a K2500 Suburban. Over the years using Chryslers, GM and Fords all I can say is, they are all good when they run…. I can find things to praise and knock on all 3.
And actually if GM would of offered a 1 ton short bed crew cab I would of most likely stayed with a Chevy. But they didn’t so I was looking for the right combination of engine, payload and cab style and the F350 presented itself…. It was a toss up between a 8.1 K2500HD with 4.10 rear axle short bed crew cab and the F350 V10, 4.10 rear axle 4 x 4 short bed crew cab. Finding a good used one of either was not easy…. Now in that combination none of them are available any longer.
Have fun camping.
John
