Red face Can anyone help?

Hello all - I have just recently purchased a 1987 Sunline Satelite.
Although it appears to have sat for a bit - the damage appears to be minimal and most has been repaired already - but I do have a few ??s if anyone can help me n point me in the right direction for these issues....

1. In GA, any idea where I can find used parts?? It needs an awning...

2. The fridge is running but will not get cold -- do they take freon and/or can they be recharged-?? if so, any idea in GA where I could get this done??

3. Any idea of the weight?? All I can find is what appears to be the serial #, so I am not certain if my vehicle can pull it.

4. I was told the older campers did not have model #s; however, I am seeing older sunlines online with model #s - Any idea how I can locate this??

Thanks, Mis

1. Check Craigslist for used parts.
2. The fridge takes a LONG time to cool down. I keep 2 frozen 1/2 gallon jugs of ice that I put in the the fridge & freezer to get the cooling process started. Without them it'll take 24 hours or so on electric. Gas is faster, but still slow.
3. Without knowing a model # or at least how long it is there's no way to guess the weight.
4. Hmmm...not sure, but our 2006 had a strip with the model number on it hidden under the door's sill plate. SunlineFan will answer this one for you I'm sure

Hi Mis, welcome to the forum.

To add a tiny bit to what Pam sad, it is hard to tell if the fridge is running because the "RV" type fridges don't have a compressor. They are what is called an "absorbtion" type and use ammonia. They can NOT be recharged like a freon unit. The electric element or gas flame heats the ammonia and it goes through a complex process. Here is one picture (of many available on the internet) that shows the process.

I found the weight on mine by going to the Files tab at the top of the page and looking at the brochures for the model year. The seller of mine had the year and the length wrong, but based on the floorplans in the brochures, I was able to find out what year and model it really was, and then used the brochures to find the weights. Good luck!

As for you local stuff, call your mechanic they can guide you to someone near you.

Good Luck!
