I hope this is okay to post here. Our beloved totaled 19' Sunline is being auctioned at its graveyard in Phoenix, AZ on January 2nd. I have no $$$ in this auction, we were paid by insurance long ago. Title called it a 1982 Sunline Suno. I haven't been here in a LOOOONG time. I posted when we were in our 17 months of restoring, renovating, repairing and glamping this Sunline that looked like a 5th wheel but had the option of towing like a regular setup, then hit the road for a cross-country trip from NC to CA in March of 2022. 25 days later about 30 miles shy of the Painted Desert in AZ a 60 mph wind gust turned it onto its side and totaled it. That's the short version. 1-2-24 will the be the 2nd time they've tried to sell it and I fear if nobody bids this time they will likely crush it for scrap metal. iaai.com classifies it as a rollover, but only the left side and nose hit the ground. Parts that we believe are perfectly salvageable: A kick-butt propane/electric fridge that was still so cold after 4 days in the junkyard in the AZ sun that when we opened it the milk was still fine and the lettuce was not wilted. At least 5, maybe 6 perfectly intact and operable jalousie windows. #6 popped out and laid on the road still unbroken in its frame until we laid it inside. A brand new spare tire, unless its dry rotted since it's sat there at the camper graveyard. Furnace. GREAT AC. So cold it could have easily cooled a bigger camper. The water heater and pump worked great before the wreck. BRAND NEW teal faux leather dinette cushions. I don't know if the tub can be removed but it seemed okay. Cabinet hardware/latches, lights. Stovetop with cover, vented range hood, don't know if those still work or not. Door was not affected. Screen door all intact. Brakes were brand new when we hit the road. The spare tire and both other tires were brand new when we hit the road and all of the rims seemed fine though the bent axle may have hurt one of them. The inverter and fuse box (30 amp, complete with pigtail) should still be good. Anyway, if you could use any of these parts and have a way to pick it up in AZ I suspect you could register to buy and put in a minimum pre-bid and probably get it and salvage all that and scrap the rest. I HATE to see it get crushed while a vintage Sunline owner could use any/all of that. If you Google "1982 Sunline Suno" it will probably take you to the site with a thumbnail picture of it. It's white and turquoise with color-shift side stripes. I don't know if it's even possible for you to get registered to buy in time or not, or maybe find a way to get someone who already is to bid it for you. It looked like a minimum bid was about $250 or $300. We watched the first auction online when NOBODY bid on it when they tried to auction it the day after Christmas, along with hundreds of other vehicles. I just wanted to hug it and cry. If someone can walk me through attaching pictures here straight from my pictures file, I'd gladly put post-renovation, pre-wreck pictures for you to see what we did. The auction site of
https://www.iaai.com/VehicleDetail/33510252~US will take you there too, but doesn't show much inside detail since it's all post-wreck. The site also has a link near the top of the page for licensed brokers who I suppose, can buy it for you for a fee. Anyway I hope someone can save what they can use before it's all destroyed forevermore. I'll check back again here a few times a day for messages between now and the auction. Sadly, its poor excuse for a "replacement" camper is not a Sunline, so, thanks for letting us be a part of this forum while we could.
