Hi

I bought my first camper, a 1977 Sunline. Its a mess! The vents have been left open for some time in at least the bathroom and the doors possibly left open to the weather and pets lol The refrigerator is present but was in the isle and the electric and plumbing cut. There were roof leaks at one time but the previous owner said he patched them. It seems dry but there is some rotted wood on the ceiling in places and in the back section of the refrigerator cubby. Some of it was cut out, probably why the fridge was pulled out. The wiring is a mess, no tail lights at all and the wiring harness at the hitch was cut. I dont know ANYTHING about campers but I suspect Im going to learn alot in the upcoming months. I googled 1977 sunline wiring schematic and followed some links here and...

I AM AMAZED at the amount of information Im finding here and comforted by the amount of friendly people posting.

I believe all I need is the will and this site (probably a pretty penny too) and I will have this baby restored in no time (or at least by winter)

Love this site, Ive been on here reading and clicking and saving disgrams that mays well be Chinese for an hour easy and I dont wont to leave lol but I have to get some sleep... CANT WAIT to ask for some help and get this project underway!

I love projects that will give back for years to come

Mark (Ill post pics and camper info soon)

Thumbs up

MARK, WELCOME, THANKS for saving another ,,, Prior Poughkeepsie here & born in TROY. Now east TN. .You will get a lot of camper experience.. This case anything you do will be a improvement.. Can always be a hunting rig if you find a mint gem...IMO ... One of our Atlanta gal vintage
members just got a 78 , 17 ft from original owners, stored inside.
Hope she joins here. . A cheaper refrig idea would be to look for a $ 25 College DORM unit.. Will not have the gas option, but cheaper. Some vintage restore guys will keep the old refrig Door & frame in a 2nd opening to give a orig 1st glance.

Welcome to the forum Mark.

Good luck with your project. As Kathy said, lots of good people here willing to help and don't be afraid to ask questions. We don't consider any question a dumb question since we were all new to this at one time.

Welcome Mark!

Best of luck with your Sunline. There are so many helpful folks here!

As Gene said, no question is stupid. I asked a lot of those questions myself, and still do

Anyway, it sounds like you have a fun mess on your hands. Please share photos as you go- it's how we all learn. Good luck on your project, and once again, WELCOME!

Happy fixing,
Jen

Hi Mark,

Welcome to Sunline Owners Club!. Glad you found us. I moved your post here from the testing area forum. Your 1st post was "Perfect" as an introduce yourself post. You passed with flying colors.

It sounds like you have a real "rebuild project" there... If your handy and have wood working tools, anything can be fixed on these campers. We can help on the "how did they do that" to help point you to how the Sunlines where made. Parts...always a popular question... while finding an "exact" replacement of things on a 1977 camper is a job in itself, there are replacements for everything with some still just like they have on the camper. Others you may have to make some upgraded choices.

Your project sounds like a perfect Repairs and Maintenance post and your even mentioned pictures! We like pic's! They really help explain to us what you are up against and we can help better.

Best of luck on your camper.

Look forward to hearing and seeing your Sunline adventures.

John
