Master Bedroom

Came back yesturday from my first camping trip. Only complaint is I wish the main bedroom bed was a fold up too. You can barely walk in there without scratching the walls or getting yourself stuck. haha. Has anybody on here thought of way to make it work better in this room?

Take the bed out and replace it with a convertible couch or jack-sofa? Haven't seen it done but it sounds feasible.

We have the same bed layout. It is a total pain to make the bed. Can't reach the top without kneeling on it. My wife gets on one side and I get on the other, and we slide the mattress down to get the fitted sheet on it.

that's exactly the we make ours. You can't do much about taking the bed out as, the fresh water tank is under it.

Our tanks are under the trailer.

The problem is those two carpet covered boxes beside the bed are the pass through compartment which is also under the front third of the bed, so no, removing the bed is a no go.

my bed flips up because there is another storage compartment under the bed were the drawers are located. The only other thing I can thing of doing is removing that somehow and making the bed more able to flip up during the day when no one is sleeping. Atleast this way we can get use out of the second door or just have mobility in the bedroom. I noticed that in my T-264SR, The doors that seperate the bedroom and kitchen are almost 4 inches thick. I have considered removing those as well. My storage tanks are also located under the trailer more towards the back.

Your door is closer to the bed than ours is. We have a T-276SR and only have one exterior door. Our door is located probably 2 feet to the rear of yours.

We did remove bedroom doors years ago. Just my husband and I. I got a shower rod and curtains, pretty tiebacks and voila, more space.

Heres a thought....replace your mattress with a double bed size...we all used that size for years and now we are spoiled! however, how often do you really need that extra space?? Its camping, for gosh sakes,be classified you are up off the ground...just sayin' of course.

Janalee: Without major modifications to the structure underneath you would not gain anything with a smaller mattress. You'd just have a piece of the platform with no mattress.

Well, I thought it would be understood you would have to trim the platform...and thats not so major. Wouldn't have to remove it to do it..but my point was, you don't use that space for a traffic pattern so how much of an inconvenience does it really present. Be glad for what you do have...I wish I could still do it at all!

Yes, I understand the platform would need to be reduced, however our bed platform sits on rails INSIDE of the walls that form the bed. To reduce the size of the platform would require removing all three sides of the bed shortening them and reinstalling them. Also there are drawers under there that would have to be taken into consideration when downsizing. It's not a simple matter of cutting a piece of plywood.

It's not so much a traffic pattern issue, as it is access to the bed. It's a shuffle on the non-door side because there not enough width for your feet.

But, it is not enough of an issue to undertake the project involved to gain a couple of inches.

I understand the physical issues too. Since my wife broke her ankle a couple of years ago (fell of sunnies' steps in a unexpected snowstorm, 13 screws and two plates later.....), we've had to change quite a few things.
