Getting the itch & black stove cover
Went over to my parents today and took the camper keys along to the 195SR, I'm getting the itch real bad. The poor trailer has been sitting there since the day after Thanksgiving when Butler RV delivered it. With the sun beating down today, yet still only 45 degrees, my mind is moving on taking her for her maiden voyage with us. Reading everyone else's posts on here I think everyone is getting the camping bug.
Secondly, can anyone tell me where I can get or if I can get a black stove cover. I've seen pics of other campers that have them on, but ours did not come with one. We use the stove, but like in our last camper it had a cover and we used it for extra countertop area. Actually I mixed a many of drinks on mine. So hopefully if anyone can help me out here it would be appreciated. I wanted to look today in our local RV dealership showroom but they were closed. Thanks again.

Cover Source
I purched my cover from ppl. I've used their web site for a number of purchases and have always gotten quick service.
Very easy to install.
If you look under Files/Other you'll see a file titled Exploring Sunline and you can see my cover. I like it because it can be folded half way, uncovering just one burner; leaving a flat area for other things.

Bi-fold Cover for range top
We bought ours online through the cooktop manufacturer's website www.atwoodmobile.com.

Dave,
We use a cutting board, sort of like this one, to cover our stove and use as extra counter space.
This is another option to consider and works just as good and may be a little cheaper.
I'm sure you could find a cutting board the same size as your stove a lot cheaper than a stove cover.

I think these may be the two you should look at:
http://www.campingworld.com/search/i...d&Nty=1&Ntpc=1
We really like the wooden one which is very well made. We bought it at CW on the recommendation of our RV dealer who didn't like the metal one Sunline OEM'd. We've had it a couple of years so not sure if it's still the same quality. Ours has a heavy rubber/foam type of backing that sinks into stove top grill work and holds it in place while traveling. We've towed about 20,000 mi. on some very rough interstates and the cover has never moved, let alone bounced off. We don't use it as a cutting board to keep it looking nice and it is a much nicer counter extension to work off of than the metal would be, IMHO.

We also have the wood one henryj talks about and are very happy with it.
It's exactly as Henry describes it.

We have the metal one that came with the coach, and I'd rather have the wood. The metal one is tricky to put into the upright position. You have to pull it forward on the one side first, which makes the hinged area easy to bend. Ours was bent when we got it, but now fixed. When in the closed position it doesn't sit perfectly flat, but sags a bit in the middle. We got Tweety used, so I don't know if the previous owner caused the sag or if it was that way new, but based on the pristine condition of the rest of the coach I'd venture to guess that it was that way new.

I agree, both our Sunlines have the metal cover, 1 bought new, the other used and both have the same center fold in problem like Pam mentioned. And Cindy hates putting it up or down. And I agree it is a pain.
We use a large white plastic cutting board (18 x 24 I think) with urethane feet I attached to it over the cover or over the burners. It is another option to the wood. And we slide it over the sink when cooking to make the sink have a cover. We do not have that much counter space, yet.

One of the first things Leo did for me was to remove the stove cover, we had it in the 1950 and I hated and and when the 2499 had that same design - it was removed pronto!!
When need be I use our cutting board (large plastic one) and just lay it on top of the burners.....

After market
The after market stove cover I suggested does NOT have a center fold problem. It is rather structural.
Actually the front half can fold back onto the rear half providing a suitable place for an electric coffee pot and toaster leaving the front burner relatively free for a frying pan. Much handier than the typical stove cover found as standard equipment in most RVs.

I followed the PPL link and could not find what you are describing. What brand, part number etc is it? Yours sounds different.

John,
I think I know what Norm is describing:
Here's a link: http://store.generalrv.com/Items/435...%20Top%20Cover
I'm pretty sure it's a brand name part, but I'm not sure which one. I don't think it's Camco, but I may be wrong.

Cover
http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...vers-camco.htm
The picture from Jon shows the one I have except I have it in Black. In addition it comes in Stainless. It does work well.
It is a Camco. Very easy to mount and after a year of use no problems.

Yes, I think I like that cover a LOT more than the one I have. I have learned that with the one I have (which appears to be the most commly used type) is that you MUST use two hands to fold it back.
Hum, might have to see "IF" we can get Jon to take orders and bring some to the GTG
