Bedroom Storage Shelves

Part of the winter projects for our T-264SR was to make the bedroom bedside wardrobe storage more usable. Many floor plans use the same front bedroom setup with the skinny hanging wardrobe on either side of the bed. After dealing with the wasted space of just have a small plastic drawer unit in there we decided we wanted shelves. We never intended to hang anything in there so this better uses the storage space.

These were built with 1/4" faced veneer plywood and basic 3/4" pine boards. I simply cut the shelves to size and added a 3/4" x 3/4" support along the bottom of each side. I then made "legs" from the pine board for the shelves to stand on. Counter-sunk screws attached the legs to the shelf, then stack and repeat times 3, and then another set for the other side of the bed.

Here is the underside of the shelf on the workbench.

This is the topside pre-drilled and countersunk for the screws.

Test fit in the camper.

I also added a Kreg screw hole in the bottom of each leg to secure it to the shelf below for the final install after the clear coat. Note: this picture is from another cabinet but shows the Kreg screw joint pocket, in this example the one on the left was secured sideways and the right was down to the shelf below.

Good evening BenB. Thanks for posting this. This is going to be very helpful to us as we fix up our trailer. Luckily we only have one wardrobe but I wanted to add shelving but wasn't really sure how to do it. It looks pretty easy. Thanks again.

Tommie

It was pretty easy for me but I might be more experienced than most. The design is very simple though. I attached the 3/4" side supports with an 18 guage brad air nailer, but screws, nails or glue could be used.
