Sunline 15.5 and Honda CRV in Labrador

We've towed our little Sunline up and down the hills of Newfoundland and Labrador for some 2000 miles now without a problem. These have been mostly paved roads, though in Labrador extremel steep. Now we have about 1000 miles of gravel roads and another 1000 miles of paved. The Sunline and Honda have been troopers and we love the Sunline more every day, nice to say since it's 25 years old.

Though we've made a number of modifications I plan to make a few more when we get home that will make it even more suitable for travel.

emam
If that thing only had a full size bath, I'd swith to one in a heart beat for the light weight of it all.

I bet it'd move my 8-10mpg on the F-250 up to the normal 15-20 mpg I get when I'm not towing the 2499!

200 miles of Gravel Road

We have now towed an additional 200 miles of true gravel road, the only road across Labrador is gravel and other than having a sunline coated with mud the Honda has done real well. Typically we're in 4th gear, sometimes third and rarely 2nd. This road is the most deserted ever. We drove 120 miles in 3.5 hours and saw 6 cars, 2 semis and 2 road graders. We never drive over 40 mph. There are some long uphill grades but readily doable.

It's amazing to drive 120 miles and not see a single building until we got to our destination in Cartwright, Labrador where we'll be hopping the ferry to Goose Bay and the final part of our drive across Labrador down through Quebec and home.

Our mileage on the gravel has been 18.5 mpg; on paved about 20 mpg.

We made a large number of mods to our Sunline before we left and now have a list of 30 more. I'm thinking of enlarging the bathroom and adding a small bumpout on the back for the bed.
