Need hitch info ASAP

We are thinking about buying a 1700 1995 Sunline (17 foot) and we need to know what size the receiver is .......2 inch or 2 1/4 inch. ANY information would be very much appreciated.

Beth

Beth,

Welcome!

The receiver would be on your tow vehicle, either like 1" (never could really tow a Sunline), 2" square, and 2.5" square.

The ball size however is probably a 2", though I don't have anything to document it. There's a possiblity it's a 2 5/16", but this would be an excellent question for the seller. If you can get me a pic of the front of the coach (or a link to one), I'm pretty sure I can tell you what it has:

If the coupler has a u-shaped thing around the ball area and a handle to pull it up/back, then it's probably 2". If it has a little thing you push down and slide back on top, then it's probably 2 5/16".

Jon

Hitch Information

Thank you so much for the info. My husband agrees with you that it is probably a two inch, but he just wanted a second opinion. Unfortunately, the seller "can't remember" what size it is ......states he hasn't used it in a while.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it. It is a Sunline 17 Foot 1995 regular travel trailer.

Thank you so much for replying and we will keep you posted as to the outcome. We hope to have our Sunline in our yard on Saturday! [/img]
I just looked through my pics and I didn't see anything good of a '95 1700. However, I did find one '94 and one '93 with excellent pics, which do show it's a 2". And then I looked at '96, and I found one that I am pretty sure I can recognize that it has the 2" as well.

If you have both sizes, take both, but if you don't, I think it's pretty safe to assume it's a 2".

Thanks for checking further on this - my husband has a 2-inch hitch, so we are going to go with that and hope for the best. I actually found a picture of the trailer on Craigslist today - the guy hasn't taken it off yet. It is under the Richmond, VA Craiglist in the RV section (I think it is listed under the September 21 date). The pictures are great, but there is no picture of the hitch.

Thanks again.....

Beth
