Check out our Christmas present

Penny and I got a new TV and wanted to keep the camp gear out of the elements. Our tonneau wouldn't fit on the new truck, so Penny decided we needed to get a bed cap.
However, since I do use the Tundra for "truck stuff" as in dump going and brush hauling, I didn't want a cap.
Solution? A Softopper.

Here's the cap installed on the new Tundra

It is built similar to a boat's bimini top

It folds up on the truck or can be folded and removed by taking this ring clip off

This thing is one slick product. If you're interested here's their link

Wow Teach! Never knew they even made them. It does fit a need like you stated.

Some day in the hopefully not to distant future a truck cap will be in the plan. Weight wise it was and that was what pushed us to the 1 ton over the 3/4 ton with this heavy tongue weighted camper we have. A 300# cap eats up some cargo. However in your folding one, the weight is not an issue. I have a tilting tonno and it works well but everything just fits in there and one needs to pull out a lot of stuff to get to the front.

Good luck with your new present. Thanks for sharing

John
