98 Solaris T-1950 tongue weight?

HI and thanks for reading. Does anyone know what the rated tongue weight of the 1998 Solaris T-1950? Also, would anyone have any comments on towing it with a 2013 Toyota 4runner with a 6 cyl, 4.0 litre? Thanks again.

kb4bjm, You can download the brochure for your TT. Just click on the files section above. The tongue weight is around 400lb. Do you know what the towing capacity is for the 4Runner? Does it have the factory tow package?
I tow my '04 T1950 with my 4.2l 6cyl Envoy. It has the factory tow package which gives me 5500lb tow capacity.

That's about right for my 06 tongue weight, 400#. I towed my 1950 with a Nissan 6cyl with a capacity of 5500. It worked but was bogged down. Slow to get up to highway speed and spent a lot of time in lower gears. Slowed down to 45 on hills on the highway. I only got about 9 mpg towing and had my foot to the floor most of the time. I traded up to an F150 with V8 and 7300 capacity and it was much better. Kept up with traffic and got 12mpg towing.

I've read several times, and agree fully, that we should tow no more than 75% of the capacity of the vehicle.

Your going to notice it on the hills. I have a Tacoma 4L with a 6 spd. and tow a T1700 that is a good bit lighter. Mine is rated 6500# but it would be foolish to try and tow that much weight with a small truck/SUV. Check your manual and see what they think about tongue weight and GVW you most likely will need a WD hitch also.
