Windows on T1950 2004 model

OK, I'm getting really frustrated.

About 2 years ago, a landscaping truck in the storage yard where we pay to keep our Sunline, bent the front left window.
Basically the only part that is damaged is the lower of the two louvers. The glass is cracked (that wouldn't be a problem) but the metal frame is also bent up too badly to straighten. One corner is accordioned back - see photo below.

SO- I started on a quest.
First there are absolutely NO stickers or other identifying marks on the window. I've done everthing but remove it from the wall of the camper, which may need to be my next step.

I drove it by a Camping world and several other dealers in the hopes that a experienced service manager would look at the window and go "Oh yea - thats a _____ brand window." But everyone that looks at it just shruggs and says "I have no clue! Doesn't look like any manufacturer I've ever seen."

I've personally walked some HUGE RV sales lots looking for a new unit - of any brand - that has the same design window and I can't find one that matches the style, look, color, etc.

Thanks to some previous help in this Forum I contacted Stoltzfus and several other dealers who are listed as having been near the factory. Stoltzfus claims Sunline used Hier windows in 2004.

SO - I contacted Hier - even sent them closeup photos of the window. Their sales manager claims they never sold windows to Sunline and it doesn't look like one of their windows in the photo.

The only workable option I've come across so far is All-Rite - who will custom manufacture a window to fit in the opening (but no guarantee it will match the rest of the trailer). I haven't been brave enough to ask how much that will cost yet.

I have to believe that if I can just figure out who manufactured this window for Sunline that I can get just the lower louver as a part.

But I'm about at the end of my rope.

Any suggestions?

Buddy,

I'd contact Hehr again and hope you get someone different. I know Sunline used Hehr windows from the 1960's-'70's through at least 1998. If they still claim they didn't maufacture the windows on your coach, go to a dealer and pick up some putty tape. They'll have it in about a 25' roll. Then go back and remove the window. There should be a sticker on the inside of the window frame that tells the manufacturer, model #, style #, etc. I had to remove the big picture window on my 2363 because the previous owner repaired the top part with plexiglas. Make sure to properly redo the putty tape on the window before reinstalling.

Buddy

That one little pic, looks just like the corner of my windows in my 2004 T2499. Which is not that old.

Do you have a slightly bigger pic?

Eman here on the forum had his large T2499 picture window removed to put a fridge in. What a site to see…..

He may be able to help fill in some info on what dealer did the work for him and if they have a trail to the window vendor.

You now have my curiosity up as well in case I need to find parts, replacements. As I have 2, 2004 models at the moment. (One will go to a new home next spring)

Sorry I can’t help with the exact info, but it might be a trail to start from.

Hope the helps

John

Make that through at least '99... Our T-2453 has all Hehr windows, and I am certain I have seen the distinctive Hehr sticker on newer Sunline units.

I am also certain that other TT manufacturers use the same windows these days. I haven't been up to Ballantyne RV here in the Rochester area recently but I seem to recall seeing the Hehr sticker on several of the brands that Ballantyne carries.

If I get up that way this week, I will check it out.

Buddy,

Definetly call Hehr again. I talked with Jerry Dolowy at General RV (he's sold Sunline's for years) and he confirmed that all newer Sunline's do indeed have the Hehr windows.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Sorry I haven't replied sooner but believe it or not, I JUST got the window fixed - after almost 2 years.

I gave up looking, took the window apart, had new glass cut. Then I took the channel that the frame was made out of and pounded it straight as I could on a vise. Then used "liquid aluminum" to fill it is - sanded it - painted it - and you can't really tell it was ever damaged.

It just took me two years of driving around with a bent and broken window to get around to finally fixing it :=)

Good for you!!

And you saved some $$ in the process. Just do not count the lost time trying to find out who made your window....
