Window leak?

When Gail was taking out cushions today, she noticed wet down in the back left corner. I checked the roof first, seals around lights and all, then figured I'd go inside and tear out from down to up from where she found wet. Looks like the window has been leaking for a while, all the lower frame wood in this corner is rotted and we don't find anything above it. Probably the window? What, just take it out, replace that lower wood that rotted out, re-install with butyl tape? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks for any help. I appreciate it!

Frank

Ugh, what a way to end the season! I guess better at the end than at the beginning though...

No big deal Jon, just want to take care of it and get it fixed. Not a surprise in a trailer 30 tears old next year. I just hope the window is the culprit.

More than likely it is. After spending some time around Tin Can Tourists, it seems like all the old trailers (older than yours) suffer from leaks from around the roof vents or windows. That's usually where they have the most damage at.

Now whether it's the butyl tape or the actual seals on the window, that's a hard call. Probably some of both...
