Why 60AMPS?

Kitty's T-2499 had a 30AMP converter, as did both the T-320 and the T-299.

Now that we've stepped up to a "Bigger" Sunline, we now have a 60AMP converter.

We only have one 12v deep cycle battery in the unit (For now) and I would love to know why it requires twice the DC output.

When finances permit, I want to upgrade to the Intellipower PD9260 converter. It has the built-in charge wizard. I would just like to know why 60AMPS is necessary.. I don't believe the 12v load on the system is anymore than the three units I listed above.

Thanks in advance!

Gary

Gary

I will type more later but here is a quicky.

My 2004 T2499 and my 2004 T310SR both have a 60 amp converter as stock from Sunline. Are you sure Kittys 2006 T2499 was a 30AMP?

The 2004 design upgrades came with the larger converters I do believe along with other upgrades.

Now why 60 amp. If you want to charge a group 24 battery at full charge rate and run almost the full inside of the TT at the same time on shore power, you will use up almost all the 60 amps.

Remember when they put 921 bulbs at 1.4 amps each in, I have 23 lights inside the T310SR. Not counting the outside lights, 1.4 x 23 = 32.2 amps in light bulbs…... Now put the furnace on as it really sucks 12 VDC, then the fridge, water pump etc.

The battery charge can be putting out about 12 to 14 amps into 1 group 24 battery. It does not take much to top out a 30 amp converter while running a number of things inside the TT.

12 volt amps are like cargo weight… it all adds up

John

30 amps does sound low. If I remember right, our 2006 T-2075 was also 55 amps.
