Wheel question...

After 4 years with this old t-1550 I keep coming up with new questions...here's my latest. A friend gave me a tire to use for a spare, but it is on a boat trailer wheel. It's just for a spare, but my wheel goes on with bolts, not nuts. This wheel goes on with nuts, not bolts...can I use this wheel, or do I need to get the tire changed to the old rim? (my old spare is flat) kinda need to know soon.

Thanks

OPIE,

It may fit the same as your orig.wheel....
You have to try it to see if it fits like the orig. one. (see if the bevel around the holes are the same angle and the dia.of the hole is the same)
It should fit flat against the drum just like your orig.wheel does.
If you then find it is not the the same in those 3 ways then have it installed on your old Wheel.

Opie....

First things first...... is the "new" tire the correct size....and of reasonable age and condition?
And if the answer's "yes" to those, well, yes, you should mount it on the correct rim.

The tire is the same size, two years old and was used on a boat trailer 6-10 times in the last two years. The spare I have is flat and the rim is also damaged. I don't know the details, I wasn't there when it happened, but I was hoping to get rid of the damaged rim also. I have been delaying getting a new tire on the old (damaged) rim for fear it won't hold air. If this other rim won't fir, where do I find a 27 year old spare to replace it?

Opie...

If the same-size "new" tire has the same load rating as your existing tires and is in the condition you describe, then...

The damaged wheel isn't unique to the Sunline brand. You should be able to find a suitable used wheel (matching all characteristics) at a reputable salvage yard or RV dealer.....at a minimal cost.
