Wheel bearings

I had to repack the bearings on my 1996 T2670 and noticed something odd, to me at least. Two sets were from China and the others from Romania. Are these original equipment or replacements? Must say the bearings looked fine, no marks or imperfections.

Thanks
Al

I'm sure their supplier just gets them from whoever is the cheapest. My bearings had 2 sets from Romania and 2 sets from Mexico.

They may be originals or replacements.

Both Dexter and Alko axles use non USA made bearings a lot for brand new axles. Most now say made in China. However other countries show up too. They can be mixed across the TT as a set. However I would not recommend using each ½ of one from a different vendor. Meaning the bearing cone from one brand and the race cup from another.

And unless you specify at the parts store you will be hard pressed to find USA made trailer bearings in those sizes. If you want the high end quality and it is still available, search for Timken. Properly greased they will out live the TT. The price however is also about 4 to 6 times more.

Trailer wheel bearings and grease seals have gone the way with ST trailer tires. You have to work at it to find a made in USA stamped one.
