Welding on frame.

My battery box supports need replaced and I was wondering if there is anything I need to do before welding on the frame? Do I need to disconnect anything?

Thanks in advance...

It would be a good ideal to disconnect the battery.

I'm sure you know to remove the LP tanks and battery for saftey.

To protect inside camper things from electrical issues, do not be hooked up to the 120VAC shore power while welding. Also have the welding ground as close to the weld you are doing as practical. 6" to 12" away on the same work piece is fine. Just to not put the ground several feet/yards away somewhere on the frame and have the weld currents traveling all over to get to the work area.

If you want to be super safe, unplug the microwave and TV set/dvd player if you have one. I have not gone that far, but always put the welding ground right close to the weld area and do not have any 120 VAC componets inside powered up while welding is on going. And Make sure the grounding spot is clean and makes good contact. Not full of rust so it arc's and sparks trying to establish connection.

Good luck and hope this helps.

John

You would obviously remove the battery and the gas tanks. Additionally, when I had the rear support replaced, the welder completely removed all the 120V/12V grounds to the frame.
