Water tank

wanting to ask a quick question...

I have a 2001 Sunline Solaris Lite not sure of the model but attached pics of front and back...

last time I was camping I unscrewed the cap on the back of the camper, the one that is right above the little spicket to drain the tank. I stuck a water hose in there and let it run until it was flowing out the opening. Needless to say, when I took the hose out of the hole and put the cap back on I walked around the other side of the camper. Needless to say I had a flood coming out the hole around the pipe behind the toilet and from under the couch. Needless to say it was a mess luckily I was able to change the level of the camper and most of the water ran directly out the back door.

How do I get into where ever that tank is to see where the water ran out from and fix that leak. Also where is the water hose hook up for the camper. I can not find it to hook my white hose into the water source.

Have used the camper a lot in the past but never ever hooked water to it as most of the time we have used it where water was not available on hunting trips. Bought the camper used 5 yrs ago and have no manual for any of the stuff in it.

Your camper if it is a 2001 looks like a T2370, has a rear kitchen and rear bath. Can tell by the stove vent, fridge vent and the roof skylight over the shower. That and looking up the 2001 brochure. Now you water issue.... First I do not know your floor plan on where the fresh water tank is. It may be under the bed inside the camper up front or is it hanging under the camper some where? Or is it inside under the couch which I think is a good possibility? The fresh tank will be close to the area you filled the tank with the hose on the outside.

It sounds like you have a cracked tank, pipe or something to have water run out inside the camper from just filling up the fresh water tank.

Now to where is the "city water" hose hook up, Your pics are far away, however it looks like the fresh tank gravity fill is in the little door above the furance. Is it? And if so the the fresh tank "might" be inside under the coach.

There is also a little black looking something to the right of the furnace that I cannot make out. Any chance of a closer pic of the side of the camper by the furnace to show what all those things are on the side of the camper? The city water hook up will be a garden hose screw in female fitting on the side of the camper somewhere. Can be on back wall or the furnace side wall most likely with your layout. However find the leak first before hooking that hose up....

One other possibility is the previous owner, when winterizing, disconnected the line between tank and pump to pump antifreeze into system and didn't reconnect.

From what I can tell you have hit it on the head for the location of the kitchen and bath room for the model. I stopped by and looked at the water hook up today and you are right the water hose connection is right below that little door.

I am under the same impression that you are that the tank is under the couch and that makes the most since since that is where the leak was coming from. How do I get to the tank. I am sure I have to move that couch is there and easy way to do that?

Not familiar with your model but I assume for the sake of winterizing you wouldn't have to remove couch to get to tank and pump. Look real close at the panels under the front of couch it may be removeable.

I am going to try and get inside the camper tomorrow...Today after work there was torrential down pours....I am hoping to that it is a pipe that is disconnected and the panel comes off the front of the couch...I guess just have to wait and see tomorrow. I am open to all ideas on what to do.

I have a soft spot in the floor right in front of the back door of the camper and this winter I am planning on cutting out that soft spot and repairing the redoing all the interior floor coverings with Laminate plank flooring. Until then step across it and keep on camping.

But this water problem needs to be fixed.

If the tank is under the camper, it will be exposed under the camper. Like this 2004 unit we had. And any leak would go on the ground

If the tank is inside, it "might" be under the jack knife sofa. They pivot up. Lift up the seat cushion. They also fold down into a bed. If you want to service something under there, you can take the seat cushion off. Or the entire sofa.

Here is how I did it. Lift up cushion. have 9/16" socket and ratchet handy. Take these 2 nuts off each side and the entire cushion comes off.

Now take up the luan board and under it may be the tank if it is inside. In my case it was the furnace and the HW heater

Since you did not say you yet turned on the pump, then you have a gravity leak. Maybe cracked tank if inside, maybe but more probable is a cracked pipe or pipe not connected. You are going to have to go hunting.

Maybe try this before the next wet test, find on the outside of the camper the city water hookup. It looks like a female hose coupling. Screw in a fitting to allow compressed air to go in. Use about 20 to 30 psi and leak check with air first.

I just want to say thanks to everyone that posted for me. Each and everyone of you were of assistance.

Today after work I was able to stop by the lot where the camper is stored. I was able to raise the couch and look directly at the tank. At first I was like...What exactly am I looking for? Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. POW! Both the hose that leads to the outside connection and into the pump was disconnected and the hose going from the pump into the actual tank was disconnected. I looked around at everything else and things seemed to be in place.

Headed to Fort Boonesboro Campground this weekend, will give a whirl and see how things go. Wish me luck, hopefully no floods this time as that was a serious mess inside and out to clean up considering it was already raining outside and only caused our site to moderately flood. LOL

After I posted that night I was thinking about your situation.... H'mm I wonder if the prior owner winterized the unit, unhooked the pump suction hose to be able to draw in food grade RV antifreeze and left the hose unhooked?

Well you may have just confirmed it!

If it get down to freezing temps this winter you are going to have to drain the system and winterize it including the drain traps or the water will freeze and crack the pipes.

Have no good idea why they unhooked the tank drain. Unless that setup had a low spot in it and they unhooked it so it would not freeze.

Never exactly knew why Sunline puts some fresh tanks inside and others under the camper. I suppose floor plan may be a part of this, but on some floor plans it just did not exactly add up why?
