Water pump

I just acquired a sunline camper. It's the Saturn T-2035 model. I can't find my water pump, tried to turn it on to locate it , no such luck. Could someone tell me where it's located. Thanks.

Assuming you mean 2053, the water tank is probably under the back bed, and the pump is probably next to or behind the tank. If there's a storage door on the outside below the head of the bed, it's probably easier to access the pump from there.

Nope it's not their . I found the water tank under the cabinet in the kitchen but no water pump

The outlet for the fresh water tank should be located down low on the tank body. There should be some flex hose attached to it. Trace that flex hose to where ever it goes. If the pump is in your trailer, that flex hose should be directly connected to the intake port of the pump.

I should have stated before , I tire under the fresh water tank had blown and the floor was damaged under the tank. When I bought it I fixed the damaged portion and found several broken water lines where the water tank goes. I figured the water pump would be close by . I can't find the wires the would attach to it either. The water pump switch on the range hood does nothing so I can't turn it on and listen for the pump.

The water pumps on Sunlines are typically on the street side of the trailer and almost always mounted on the floor. Looking at the floor plan for a '93 T-2053, the water pump can only be under the bathroom sink area, under the fridge, or under the street side hamper/dinette seat. If the original vinyl flooring or carpet is present, you may be able to spot where the pump was mounted.

Thanks for the help. I looked in all of those places and still no water pump. I was lucky enough to find the original owners manual. I lights and water pump switch aren't working so I took the top of the vent hood apart and found the ground wire nut had come off. Replaced it and now the vent fan and light works, I see the wires for the water monitor system " not hooked up " a orange wire" not hooked up " it comes from the 12v power source for a TV. And the blue wire that goes to the water pump, it's just sitting there with the end stripped off like it was connected to something. I measured with my vom and nothing, applied 12v to it a still no pump? I'm going crazy, it should not be this hard to find the water pump. The book says it has one but where?

Should be in close proximity of water tank. Find fresh water tank out let and follow it to water pump. Changes are it's been removed for some reason.

That's one of my problems, the fresh water tank was removed due to a hole in the floor under it and all the plastic water lines are broken . I've looked for the 12v power wires near the water tank and see nothing. I believe that the pump was taken out for some reason but I still should see the power wires.

OK , I put the water tank back under the kitchen sink and from what I can tell by the way the water lines are configured the water pump was mounted next to it. Now where is it getting its power from, I cut a couple of holes in to top cabinet and the wires that feed the vent hood are coming from the top of the camper, the blue wire that comes from the switch that feeds power to the pump goes nowhere , I can't find the other end of the blue wire or any trace of the blue wire anywhere else?

For the power to the pump from the switch, I'd suggest that you abandon the wire at the switch that appears to go no where. If there's still +12vdc arriving at the switch, you're pretty much all set to re-wire for the pump. Run a fresh 14 AWG stranded from the switch to the pump. Don't use white as white is ground in TT's and RV's. I know it's backwards from the rest of the world, but it is what it is. At the same time you'll want to make ground available for the pump. Use white 14 AWG stranded for that. You should be able to find a white ground wire to tie it into nearby. If possible, the pump should be on it's own fuse.

Your convertor and fuse panel should have been located down near the floor. If you are replacing everything, I suggest you get a unit that includes everything. Then you are set for adequate fuses for all the different 12vdc systems plus circuit breakers for the 110vac stuff.

For plumbing, use the right size flex hose from the tank to the pump. The barb on the tank and on the pump should be the same size. The pump provides water pressure to the entire rest of the system. If you plan to restore the city water connection, that should "T" into the line coming out of the pump. It's then an either/or situation where the pressure and water comes from the fresh water tank, or it comes from a city water hookup at home or in a campground. It's one or the other, but not both.

As previously suggested, PEX and your choice of fittings are the best options from the pump on out to the rest of the system.

The pump has a pressure sensor built in. When you open a faucet, the pressure drops and the pump comes on. If you're connected to city water, the constant pressure from that keeps the pump from running, even when a faucet is opened. Most of us will shut off the pump when on city water, but if you overlook it, it should not be a problem.

Ideal city water pressure is around 40 psi. If you re-plumb with PEX or flex hose, it can stand much greater pressures, but it's just not advisable to run too much more. If a hose slips off a barb or out of a fitting, you'll have a real mess and possible damage to the sub-floor and more.

Steve, thanks for the help. I was going to run new wires for the pump now that I know what's wrong with my setup, I'm curious as to where the wires are. Now I have to buy a new pump and some pex and fittings and replumb the fresh water tank.

Before charging lines with water I'd pressure test with air to make sure that there are no other breaks in lines. Better than a flood.
