TV antenna Lubrication

While at the M&G this past weekend, I discovered most people are unaware of the need to lubricate the TV antenna at least twice each year. As a result I was asked to post the pictures I have taken of the process. Now you must make sure that you only use silicone spray as any other spray that may contain petroleum products can damage your roof. Here is the link to the pictures of the process. Now according to the instructions sheet you need to make sure that you also lubricate the rubber quad seal to ensure that it does not dry out and crack allowing water to leak into your rig. The instruction sheet gives you a full disassemble procedure for this, however according to the wineguard website, the lubrication (bath) of the gears with silicone spray will not only remove any dirt and debris, it also lubricates the seal which prevents water from flowing into the rig. Here is the link on the wineguard website. I hope everyone finds this information usefull.

I know when you told me at the M&G I was oblivious about it. Funny thing is when I left Sunday I had a problem cranking down the antennae. This task is job one! Thanks.

I knew we should have made it down the the "FIX IT" seminar earlier than we did!

Next year - if there is one - I promise to come early!

TrailBlazer,

Thanks for the info. I'll have to scrounge around and find someone to go up on the roof for me to check mine out. The photos are great, and "IF" I wasn't afraid of heights, it's definitely something I could do.

Now, I need a "HOW TO" on how to overcome my fear of ladders/heights
