Unhappy trouble replacing gas controller

Hi folks,
I have brochure in the folder but it shows other controllers than the one I have.

Tried to find a replacement for this and even google couldn't help so hope someone here can.

1995 sunline 1700
Atwood controller and pilot will not stay lit (sometimes an hour, sometimes a day)
The knob seems to be worn out (have to be 5 -10 degrees left of pilot to actually light it)
Since the knob was off on "pilot" I tried positions left and right of "on' after it kept acting up. Nothing seemed to affect it good or bad.

I googled the number 153-7048 that is on label and got no hits.

Thinking it is best to replace the whole thing-is there another number I didn't see or has this been replaced with a newer part and number?

Is there another controller that is considered better and will retro fit easily.

thanks in advance.

Gene is an unknown quantity at this point
Try looking at this page:
Marksrv.com Atwood rv water heater parts

The picture at the top looks like yours. You might find something there that you can do a Google search for.

JohnB is on a distinguished road
Try here http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/r...arts-instr.htm

Then got into the on line parts catalog. Then in the search by catagory look for Water heater. That brings up a pick list and then find the model number HW heater and it has an exploded view of all parts. They also sell the parts off that screen. OR once armed with the Atwood part number, you can do a web search on that Atwood part number and often times many other places show up selling it. The prices can range all over for the same part.

I have bought from PPL before and had a good experiance. Not always the cheapest, so I shop as well.

Good luck and let us know how you make out

John

Thanks John.
I ended up taking it out for a long week end with a small elec. heater just in case I needed heat. (they had a bathhouse).
It worked fine the entire time. I did blow out the pilot when I first closed the door but re lit it and it worked for 3 1/2 days.
I was having problems at the beach, it is windy but not that much. I am more confused now than ever.

don't mind the money but hate to replace everything when I don't really understand how the electrodes work and how it needs to be positioned. Afraid I will make it worse before I make it better.

I may just replace it here at the house and try her out and then I will know I can depend on it.

Thanks for the thread advise, and if you think of anything, I appreciate any advise along the way.

Thanks, Tim
