Tire Manufaturer Date

I can't find the topic on how to determine the age of a tire......I know it is on here but can anyone tell me or link me to it????


I googled and found it:

last 4 numbers = week and year of mfger......

Find the little oval recessed thing in the sidewall that has four numbers in it. It stands out pretty well on the sidewall. There may be another thing like it with the oval, but the one with the four numbers and a reasonable last two digits (does it sound like a year they were made) will be the one.

The first two digits are the week it was made and the last two are the year. So 1106 would mean they were made in the 11th week of 2006.

If the tires you're checking are the factory tires on your 2499, if the 205/75/R15 is made the same way, it should be near where the tire says "ST", as in ST 205/75/R15. I'll be toward the rim from that.

That being said, with mine signed of 3/8/06, the tires on it were made in the 47th week of 2005. I should think about some new ones...
