Tire Cover Grommet Repair

Not sure if others have the same problem I have with the RV Tire Covers with the grommets tearing out.

Here’s a repair method that I’ve found that holds up.

Supplies needed include:
1. Grommet Kit with 3/8” Grommets
2. EternaBond Tape

1. I cut ~2”x2” squares of the EternaBond Tape

2. I cover the Tire Cover Hole (where the grommet ripped out) on each side with the 2”x2” squares of the EternaBond Tape.

Tire Cover Outside:

3. I use the punch of the Grommet Kit to make a new hole through the EternaBond Tape.

4. I insert the grommet assembly into the newly created hole and position the grommet kits flaring tool and base.
Note: I have the grommet flaring on the inside of the tire cover.
Grommet Assembly Positioned:

Grommet Kit Flaring Tool:

5. I attach the grommet assembly using the flaring tool and I have a new grommet added to the tire cover.

This has proven to be a good repair method that lasts.

Hope someone found this post useful and informative.

Thanks PT
This sure saves a lot of money by not having to buy new ones. Just got reacquainted with the site. Good to hear from the old timers.
