T 2104 Front Door Skin Replacement - exterior

We took our T 2104 out for one last outing this past few days. Everything was great. Winterized it before leaving the State Park and off we went back to our Storage facility. Didn't notice anything until we pulled in to unhook from our Jeep. Seems the front door exterior skin peeled in half off the door. Now we need to replace the whole skin outside, but don't know where to get one. IT is made of a fiberglass material, but very thin. Our local RV Center can't get one in, but are willing to order a new door ($500 +), can't afford that. Can anyone suggest where we can order or buy material to cut to fit the door frame? We have all tools needed. Just need something to replace it with before winter hits us. We are located just outside Pittsburgh PA area.

Google "Filon Siding" (no quotes) for all kinds of hits on sources as well as repairs. Is the door frame solid that you can reuse it? I only looked at the first hit, factoryrvsurplus.com and the cost is only $50. There are a number of people who have rebuilt doors right down to new framing--search for those threads.

Your door is probably the bubbled texture FRP panel. You can get a sheet of it in white at Home Depot/Lowes usually, since many car washes use it to cover walls, public showers use it, etc.

Chances are you will need to rebuild the wood door frame as well due to rot, because that's usually what causes the skin to come off. Otherwise with good wood, it's sandwiched in there tight and doesn't go anywhere.

Still, a very doable DIY project for relatively little cost.

I have redone 3 or 4 and used pressure treated 2X4's ripped to match the dimensions of the old door frame work.
