Sunline 1550 water leak...HELP

Bought a 1982 Sunline TT 1550. Everything was going good until I hooked up the water. It started leaking from the left wheel well area. I removed the inside access cover to the heater and the leak is from a T joint in the water line but its up behind the heater and extremely difficult to get to. I've removed all the screws to the heater inside and outside hoping to slide it out of the way. I can wiggle it but it won't move. It appears the vent pipe that goes to the outside is riveted to the outside grill. How do I loosen this and get to the pipe? Planning on camping this weekend so I need to fix this ASAP.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm a little late to the party and you may be back from camping.

I do not know your older HW heater. You said leak and then heater and I guessed it was the hot water heater and not the furnace.

I have not seen a HW heater with the vent riveted to the panel but on the real old ones maybe

I do know the putty tape can keep the unit stuck to the side of the camper pretty good. To the point it feels like you are going to rip something apart trying to get it out. If this is the case, try a warmed putty knife around the seal to the side of the camper to help break free the seal.

Hope this helps

If you still having issues, post a pic of what you are up against and we may be able to help suggest some ideas.

Thanks for the reply and it was the furnace, not the HW heater. I tend to speak southern at times and I guess I wasn't clear. I found there was a rivet holding the two pieces of the outside vent/grill together and after trying several other things I took my drimmel tool and cut the rivet, removed the grill, slid the furnace out inside the camper just enough so I could reach the T joint and replaced it. All is well. We went camping with our daughter, son in law, and two grandchildren this weekend. They have a large pull behind. We had a blast and decided we may need a bigger camper! Again, thanks.
