Shower Door Does Stay Closed?

When looking at it, I don’t see how it stays shut?

Never thought about it until now when all of a sudden it won’t stay closed
Took a shower this morning and it was fine

It rolls out but won’t stay closed

What is it that keeps it closed?? There is no type of hatch I see??

However, I can’t take a shower if it won’t stay closed 😢

Apparently the roller has moved or is warped?

It will close with the plastic end cap bar removed with a small gap but not with it in place as normal

See pictures

Sorry pictures are sideways however...

1st picture you can see the gap where it will close without the plastic cap
2nd picture is how is it SHOULD work with plastic cap on the bar and a snug fit

I just did a search for “Shub, Disappearing shower door” and a you tube video does a demo of how one works.

Hoping the link I attached works?

Hi Joan,

I believe the piece where it says to "Hold and Press In" is also the latch. Right behind that piece, you can see the small hook piece of plastic there. When you extend the door, that hook piece hooks into the track at the other end. When you hold it and press it in, you are just pushing the door away from the track, so it no longer hooks. Think of hooking two fingers together, same concept. Without seeing the track piece where it mates to, I can't say what's wrong. The piece on the door looks ok.

Can you post a picture of where the bottom piece is hitting something?

UPDATE:

Was looking around and found an installation pdf and it states the door handle IS the latch

https://www.newlinebathroom.com/file...structions.pdf

“HANDLE IS THE LATCH DEVICE). Position the rail end cap at the edge of your pencil line.”

I broke my handle. He is sending me a new one and hopefully that will solve the problem although mine is an older model than what they are currently selling

TO BE CONTINUED....

I called the SHUB Co
They are sending me a new door handle

However, he explained it was how the two tracks meet that keeps the door shut
Weird really

He said that sometimes with traveling the bars get out of align
I could bend the top bar back into shape, that the bar is easy to bend but it doesn’t seem easy to me and I am reluctant to do that!

And the new door handle will have a screw instead of the plastic tab

This is what is looks like from the inside, the plastic tabs keep the side bar and film together but doesn’t seem to do anything to keep the door shut

The door and the bars have to be at just the right angle

Picture is sideways but it is from the outside looking down

The top bar is pulled out slighly. This is the only way it will close now

Thanks! Its not the same as mine but same premise, it closes when the two tracks meet at just the right angle
