Rubber roof maintainance

Does anyone know if ther is a white rubber coating available. I'd like to put a coat of this typw of product on my t2653 to extend the life of the roof. Any thoughts, advice would be helpful.

Camping world sells the Dicor coating. They also sell a cleaner/primer, that you use before putting on the new coating.

Hope THIS helps! Good luck!

When I did mine I just used a stiff bristle brush and soap and water to wash loose particle away. They put a good coat of primer before the last topcoat.

I found the rubber roof to be in good condition around the A/C and under the roof mounted TV antenna. There really is something to be said good for parking under cover.

I have a 2000 Advancer t25R. I am assuming that you either have a "rubber" (soft) roof or a hard roof of some kind? There is not like 13 different compounds of other style soft roofs?
I will be looking to clean, inspect and probably seal the potential trouble areas.....

Hi Sky

Yes Rubber with the age of your unit. Special order you could get aluminum. The older ones where Aluminum before they went to rubber.

For cleaning I use Tide laundry soap to cut the dirt.

For caulking see this post. You need to check for fine splits and cracks and fix now as soon as you find them. http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...1-a-11508.html

To treat the rubber if you want to, I use a product called 303 Aerospace UV Protectant after it is washed and dried. It is made to not hurt the rubber. Need to watch out that you do not use products with petroleum in it as it affects the rubber.

Also caution the roof is not a walk on roof again unless it was special order. In order to actually walk or kneel on the roof to service parts etc you need to put a carpet or tarp down to protect the rubber then pieces of 1/2" or thicker plywood on top to hold your weight that will span about 20" of more. The rafter are on 16" centers. Need to spread the load out. I use pieces of 2 foot x 4 foot x 5/8"

There is no support wood between the rafters normally. You will go right through if you try and stand on it between the rafters.

To wash I use a good step ladder and a long reach car wash pole brush. Then hang over the side to get 1/2 way and work yourself around the perimeter of the camper.

Hope this helps and good luck

John
