Roof cleaning

Got the 2499 home today, and although it's clean as a new whistle everywhere else, the roof needed cleaning. It's been parked in the woods for 8 years. I used my pressure washer turned down pretty low and it did a great job on getting the thick black dirty coating off. (Now the rest of the coach needs a bath!) What is left is a blotchy pinkish grey color which I'm assuming is either some sort of mold or perhaps just a discoloration in the product from the sun? It seems pretty impregnated in the product? I don't even know what kind of roof it is, not metal, more like a thick sheet of rubber (plastic)? It looks to be in pretty nice shape but has some puckering towards the rear, almost like where it was pulled tight during the install causing some long wrinkles. Nothing appears compromised anywhere and it has a nice thick bead of sealent around the edge and pipes. No evidence of leaks anywhere.

Anything I should be concerned with here. Thanks!! Joe

Hi,

Nice looking coach. There is a product that strips the old coating off the roof. It is part of a two step process with the second part being a fresh coat of paint/sealer. It is a days worth of work but you will like the results. Did this last year to our now for sale T-2363 and it really brought the roof back to life. Just follow the directions on the product and you will have a nice fresh roof. Here is the link for the cleaner at CW: Dicor Rubber Roof Primer/Cleaner, Quart - Dicor RP-CRP-Q - Roof Maintenance & Repair - Camping World and here is the link for the paint/sealer: Dicor White Rubber Roof Acrylic Coating, Gallon - Dicor RP-CRC-1 - Roof Maintenance & Repair - Camping World

It may be too far gone by now but you might try Korkay Spray Cleaner first. It cleans pretty well.

Nice, glad to see it on the road again!

Are you talking like grayish black spots on the roof? Mine didn't have those when new, even after sitting near the Jersey shore (Wall Twp) for over two years. Brought it back to MI, stored it inside right away, only pulling it out for a couple weeks a year. It has now developed black spots, and I clean the roof each year before I put it away. It must be something in the air or from trees that cause it.

I have the wrinkles in the corner like you mention, been there since new. Doesn't seem to hurt anything. The seams there seemed to be ok, but I did find this along the side this year:

I haven't filled them yet, I'll get to it in the next couple weeks. I have the tube of Dicor sitting on the tongue ready to go, just need to clean the seam area itself and apply the new. We had heavy storms for the couple days before I put it back inside, so in order to keep the seam dry for those three days and for the four hour trip up to the building, I put some duct tape on the splits. It held remarkably well the whole way, even though a huge downpour, but now I have a little adhesive residue on the roof from when I pulled the tape off.
