replacement scissors jack

I have a 2007 2363. When I was getting it ready in case of power outages due to the hurricane I noticed the left rear scissors jack was all bent up.

Not sure how it happened as i do not leave them down but it was moved back and forth when contractor was taking trees down.

I took the jack to the local rv dealer and they never heard of the company and the jacks they had do not have the same bolt pattern.

Spouse has been sick the last couple of years and have not actually used the trailer.

This year we are going to Disney World no matter what.

Anyone have a source for a replacement jack?

mike

I think you ran into an unhelpful dealer. Don't tell them it's for a Sunline; their eyes glaze over.

I'm pretty sure BAL is about the only company that makes them and Camping World has a good sale price and low shipping deal on now. I don't have any measurements, but this sure looks like what's on our trailer.

Hi Mike

Any chance of a pic of the stabilizer? There are only so many brands out there. Sunline use to use BAL a lot like Henry pointed out and the BAL features are well known and most have something stamped in the stabilizer.

From the pic we can help tell if is it a Bal or not.

But in the 2007 years Sunline started using a lot of Lippert parts. Some have Lippert axles in place of the Dexters or Alko. They may have used Lippert stabilizers.

I went to the Lippert site. WOW did they ever redo the web site.... The only quick Lippert stabilizer I can find is on page 18 of this PDF catalog. It is LCI page 30 as they are 1/2 pages. http://lippertcomponents.com/catalog/catalog.pdf

Lippert sells direct and some can be found by other sellers.

Here is the LCI site Product Catalog

And here is one in the clearance area for $25
Lippert Components, Inc Shopping Cart

The enlarge image is this. Look at the bolt hole pattern. BAL's does not look like that

Hope this helps

PS once you find the brand, please post back as it helps folks in the future. Little by little we keep learning how and where Sunline bought all the commercial parts

It's probably an LCI jack. All the 2007s had LCI (Lippert Components Inc) Jacks, since they were mounted to the frame when the frame was built at the Lippert factory. I know you can buy them directly from Lippert. Mike (264SRinPA) bought a couple extra jacks from them to put right in front of his axles.

Yes I bought mine right from LCI. Came with the round sand pads exactly like the ones on the trailer. And at the time, they were cheaper than the B.A.L. jacks. I think I paid $85 for two including shipping.

Thanks to all for the information.

I have a jack on order.

Can't wait to start using the trailer again with my tow vehicle.

I was using an 04 4runner to tow the 2363. Now I have a 97 ford f250 diesel. Should be a more compatible tow vehicle.

Unfortunately I think I am going to have to scrounge up another shank with a lower drop. The truck is a little taller.

Compared to other problems you could have, a proper hitch costs fall far down the list of expenses your going to have.

You will be amazed at how much different your towing experience will be with the n-used truck. Nice truck choice

That looks like a pretty good price at $25.00 each... Would there be any harm in buying 2 of this brand (I am missing 2 of the BAL brand on my 2753) and not mouting them to the frame? I am thinking about welding some channel on the top portion of it so it cups the frame... That way I can put them where ever I want or where ever is easiest to access... And if I should do that with 2 of them, which 2 would you leave mounted to the trailer? Front or back, which ones are more proned to get ripped off or get bent?

Thanks!

I'd mount them all. Personally, I've done the whole free jack thing before, but didn't put up with it very long. They are more unstable that way, and they will be much more of a PIA to crank up and down. You really need two hands to crank the crank handle, and the jack will easily wobble over until you get it up to the frame. Now if you had a clamp design that would clamp it to the frame yet would be movable, then that would work better. I think you'd just get very tired of the whole crawling on the ground thing to get the jack set versus just walking up and cranking it down. Plus, without them mounted, I wouldn't want to do much in the way of lifting the trailer, or else the whole thing could slide front/back or sideways and fall off the scissor jacks, and potentially bending the others.

I'd say back ones get bent more because people encounter driveways and steep slopes (like fast food restaurants, etc.) that can bend the jacks going over. I also think a lot of it occurs from people being lazy and not cranking them up all the way. I do, and always have, cranked them up all the way and then go an extra 1/4 turn or so to lock the jack up so it won't unspin. Never bent a jack this way, ever. When locked, the jack is very strong.

The only other way I think that jacks commonly get bent is if the trailer were parked on uneven ground, the jacks put down, and the trailer were to slide into a hole or something if the tires weren't blocked. But front or rear jacks won't matter here, just depends what had more pressure/height on it.
