Replacement hot water heater

My local RV supplier has a special on hot water heaters.

One model for sale is less than $150 for a brand new one. Is that a good deal?

Unfortunately I didn't have time to see the current make/model of water heater in my T2470.

I've been scouring the Youtube "self-help" videos on troubleshooting water heaters but am wondering if swapping old for new is something w/in my "technical" abilities AND if it's worth the cost/effort.

As always any help/suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

v/r & Semper Fi,
Rob

The old one leaking? Most 6 gallon heaters are pretty much the same size. If it's not leaking it's more than likely a simple fix.

That depends on the make and model.

The standard for Sunline was Atwood. The letters and numbers in the model number actually describe LP and/or electric, pilot light or DSI (direct spark ignition and tank size.

Times 2 what Gene said.

Get the exact part number of what yours is. The one the dealer is selling $150 less may not be and exact drop in with all the features. It may fit but it might not be the right one. Each of the digits of an Atwood PN stand for a feature.

As Mainah said, if there is no leak in the tank, may be cheaper to change control parts if you know which one. Do you know what the issue is yet? The HW heater can be fussy on all the electric safeties being met if it is an electronic ignition model. Corrosion on the terminals of the saftey circuit stops it from working as a text book cause. Cleaning up the contact points has cure many an Atwood heater not firing. Again on an electric fired ignition system.

Good luck

John
