Replaced awning fabric.

Hi everyone. I replaced my awning fabric but I think I I didn't re assemble the roll up tube properly because the awning won't roll up. Thank you.
Gregory Morealli.

Hi Gregory,

Please describe or show pics of what is not working properly. Won't roll up properly can come from several causes; we need to know which you are up against to help better.

Also, what method did you use to un-tension and re-tension the springs, and did you do both the left and right-hand springs?

I assume you still use the original Dometic awning hardware; what year is the camper and model awning? Dometic changed the end caps along the way, and there are different tricks/methods for holding the springs from unwinding, pending the model. Posting a pic of the ends caps helps. The model number is on the roller tube that you can see when the awning is fully extended. Assuming the tag is still readable.

Hope this helps

John

While I don't doubt for a minute that John can talk you through how to fix the problem, you might want to look at a few Youtube videos showing how it's done, and see where you went wrong. I did mine a few years ago with that guidance, and it went without a hitch.

That could avoid some of the time lag inherent in back-and-forth forum posting. Camping season is upon us!
