Question Replace LP Gas Detector

Just want to make sure I will be replacing my LP Gas Detector correctly
From what I have read:doing

1. Pull the fuse out for the LP Gas Detector in the Panel
Mine states, “1amp Gas Dectector”
Picture below

2. Wire black to white, red to blue (like my old one)

3. Put back the fuse

4. Press “On” button of LP Gas Dectector

Correct?

Hi Joan,

That should work, just make sure the old detector lights go out before you start working on it, to make sure you have the right fuse.

The other option is to pull your shore power cord and turn the battery disconnect switch.

Not sure if you realize, but the new detector is smaller than the OEM Atwood Protechtor you're replacing. One option is to keep the old bezel in place and screw the new one onto that. Instead of that (since I didn't want to destroy the original bezel), I used a piece of aluminum flashing cut to that same size.

The wiring part is pretty easy.

Hey There,

Ok I was thinking of doing that too, unplug and turn off battery

My old one died so there is no way to know for sure if that is the
right fuse other than the chart on the panel.

And yes I did notice the new one is smaller but I there are two holes on the side of the frame that will work with the opening. Although using the old frame was a good idea

Thanks!

Awesome, looks great Joan! Did it come with that filler plate? They do make one to fit the old holes, but I wasn't able to find it available anymore.

This is the one I ordered off Amazon. It just fit the two side holes so I could screw it in

The four screws used to hold the unit itself it place should really have nuts on the back but it has not been a problem so far but do plan on picking some up so it’s completely secure.
