remodel

I posted a couple of months ago about my rebuild of a 1982 I found. Anyway, the process has started and needless to say I became overwhelmed quickly on the problems I encountered. It had a leaky roof and pretty much destroyed the entire roof framing and about a 4x8 section of floor. As far as I can tell all appliances seem to work except the stove. I couldn't try anything electric due to the fact the converter was leaked on and does not work, all circuits getting full 120 volts. Any input for where to buy inexpensive parts would be appriciative. Also, the door frame has been bent and was wondering if there is anywhere to buy just parts instead of the whole door. I put on some photos to see and will keep updated as my progress continues. First step fix leaky roof with new framing and vents.

It looks like you have an extreme make over, camper edition on your hands....

Keep at it, you'll do well and have a fun time camping in your labor of love...

You mentioned parts cheap, Do not know where you are located but there are RV Salvage places. A web search may even turn up some in your area.

If you ever get a chance to get near Elkhart IN there are several. They go around and buy up any left over parts, over stocks, changed styles etc from the RV manufactures. You can literally build an entire camper from what they have.

Best is to shop them and watch the prices as they can range sort of all over. Some things you can almost buy new for the price they are asking and some are down right deals.

I have been to this one. New and Reconditioned RV Parts & Accessories - RV Surplus A pile of stuff and some deals but watch the prices. This is more of a large warehouse of stuff sort of all over.

This one I have heard is great. I'll be there some time this year. SOC members have been to this one with great reviews.
Bontragers Surplus Inc.

There are also places on Ebay. A forum member posted here a short while ago on a place he uses. There is a lot of RV stuff listed on E bay but I have not yet bought thru them

Good luck and looking forward to your progress.

John

Bless Your Heart Mike!

I plan on taking a seat here on the front row as you journey through your makeover!

I have a 2002 Solaris Sunline T2053 that has been neglected due to major health issues in my family. I was feeling pretty bad about it, until I saw your post-lol!

I realized in a big way just now that if I don't give some attention to ours, it will one day need to be gutted.

Anyway, I love taking something forgotten and renewing life into it. My husband and I will be following your progress, cheering you on here!

(Hi John)!!
