I think what is going on by sliding the thermistor up or down is that the fins may be hotter or colder by convection the way the fridge just plan works. And it might have a very small benefit to affecting a trigger signal to turn cooling on and off sooner or later.

Well ..... I made the sticker myself.

I could never remember which way for warmer/colder so I used a label maker where I used to work. My wireless thermometer only shows a little change when I move it.

Ah Ha!! The rest of the story comes out.....

I do not want to even mention (actually admit....) how many camper fridges I have looked at for that sticker.... And belive it or not I did find one... But the camera was not with me then and I forgot which way was which.... Digital cameras is the best thing that has happened to senior memories in a long time.....

Just don't leave home with out it....

I know this is an old thread but my fridge seems to be taking a lot longer than it used to cool down. I really noticed it over the 4th of July holiday. We are leaving tomorrow after school for the Labor Day weekend and I have my camper out in front of the house. Plugged her in at 7pm just checked it at 10:30 freezer pretty nice and chilly, but fridge is showing no signs of cool down.

I know they cool from the top down but I never thought it ever took this long before. I have no slide control on the far right fin, but the sticker is on the fridge next to it showing colder by going up.

It eventually worked fine over the 4th and will probably again but just concerned about the time for fridge to get cooled down. Thanks

Usually I give mine at least 4 to 6 hours before I even check the temp but now, thanks to John B's pictures, I have a wireless thermometer in the fridge so I see it move sooner. After 4 hours I can see it may have gone from 80 to 55

Give it 6 to 8 hours, particularly if it started when the temps are warm.

Hi Dave

If your TT is really hot inside, like 90F plus the way it can be in the summer, it takes even longer to cool down the fridge as the entire fridge casing is like 85 to 90. And it usually takes a good 6 to 8 hours to cool the entire fridge down.

There are a few things that can help the process.

We use qty 2, of the Camco brand inside fridge fans. They run on batteries and put out more air circulation then the Valteera brand.

The next option which was like night and day is this mod.

By installing that chimmey fan the fridge gains about 40% better cooling because it helps get rid of the heat out of the coils in the back of the fridge. The system works so much better in the summer when we have it full of food. It truly helps the system work better. Why they do not install them from Dometic when new is beyond me. While mine is an aftermarket adder, Dometic themselves adds 2 fans to the higher end fridges. One would think that for an over $1,000 fridge when new they could throw in a $2 muffin fan and a $2 disk temp relay to turn it on and off.

Dave, have you checked your slider adjustment mentioned above? There's a pic up top here not too far. If you have one of those slider adjustments on the back fins inside the reefer, make sure something didn't fall and move it which would change the cool setting your refrigerator would go to. Next time you start it up, have that slider all the way on cold and see if it makes a difference.

Glad to here everything is working fine. We keep ours in storage, so when we went camping this past weekend I was worried too. The freezer cooled down faster than the fridge, but by in the morning it was fine.

Old-timey trick: Since a fridge is a glorified cooler, put several jugs of ice in during pre-chill. These will cool the interior giving the coils a head start. We do this with our pop up, too, since the fridge is inacessible during pack up.
