Hi Mike,

Bummer on the fridge vent cover flying off. Finding a replacement will be a hunt; we may be able to help, but we will need some info from you to help hunt with you.

A few questions:

1. I looked at the pics in your photo album.. Pics of the camper really help, big time! Please confirm you are looking for the bottom or top cover? I assume the bottom, but the top can also come off, even if it is harder as it is screwed on only, I believe.

2. Measure the inside opening (length & width) in the metal frame that would accept the outside dimensions of the missing door and post the dimensions. We know this size is a little bigger than the actual door, but maybe only by 1/8", etc. We need to hone in on the outer dimensions of a replacement door. This door was not only for Sunline; it most likely was made by Dometic back in the day and fit any brand camper.

3. If we cannot find a door that fits as a part for sale, we may be able to find a complete replacement vent door unit, which is an outer frame with a removable door. Please measure (length & width) the rough wood opening in the wall and post the dimensions. In the past, I have had to buy a complete mounting frame and door as a unit to replace the lost door. When we hunt, we will also hunt for a complete door unit.

4. Please post the model and serial number, or better yet, take a picture of the fridge's model tag and post. I may be able to look up the Dometic part number for the vents that go with that fridge.

Hope this helps,

John

Ooh, that's a bummer. These doors aren't easy to find now.

If it helps, I can get some measurements and pics of the one for my '79.

Hi Mike,

From your PM you said,
Quote:
the size for the lower door is 21 7/8 wide and 13 3/8 high
This is going to be a little tricky to find an exact drop-in replacement. I cannot find your old metal vent. If we had the fridge model number, it might turn up something more, but the odds are your vent may be discontinued.

I have found a Dometic fridge vent guide. It lists the vents' part numbers and rough opening sizes. I'm not sure where you measured those dimensions, but the odds are high that you will need to buy a complete vent unit and change your frame.

See this file on page 12 of PDF, which lists colors, shapes, part numbers, and rough opening sizes. This file is in our FILES section here on the forum. When logged in, you download the PDF https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/d...o=file&id=5653

Once you know the part number, you/we can find places to buy it. We can help with many online places or at your local RV dealer if you find one that you can make fit.

Based on your dimensions, the standard doors do not fit your numbers. Some come close, though. You may have to buy the closest one and then modify the opening in the camper to accept the new frame and door.

I hope this helps. Let us know what you end up with, as it can help others in the future.

John
