Recall on Dometic
My dometic fridge #2652 is on the recall list. How can I tell if it has been done? I can't find a picture of the 'fix' online--just a vague explanation. I do have a large metal barrier of sorts in front of the stack..it has an electrical schematic printed on it. It completely protects the burner..hopefully for more than just flameout when traveling..? Have any of you heard of a class action suit being filed BEFORE anyone gets severely hurt, killed,or suffered financial loss? They just offer bandaid fixes! Janalee

Janalee,
To help on what the re-call fix is,
This is what the flue stack looks like "Before"
This is the the recall added. "After"
And a shield with a wiring diagram over this area
The electrical additions sense if the flu stack is getting too hot and it shuts down the electric or gas heating.
Hope this helps
John

Thanks for the good words. We have a good bunch of folks here, all with special talents willing to share that camper spirit.
The pics... while I really enjoy the camper and even working on it, many of the pic's have come from some kind of repair or investigation. Or helping someone else out along the way. I have come to the conclusion if one is not some level of handy, even the basics, you really do not want to own and RV...
Cindy's says, why are you taking pictures of that, who wants to see that? Well one would be surprised... Pictures help so much trying to explain things some times. It is like those beautiful mods you have shown use over the years on your sewing projects. Absoletly beautiful!

I'm afraid to ask... how could they do it wrong???
The only thing I have heard of is sometime they position the thermal fuse too close to the burner and it trips accidentally.

OK, maybe learning something new here. When they did my 2 campers, the recall just came out then. They did not change the mix inside the cooling unit as part of the recall. They just added the saftey shut down.
Did they change your cooling coil mix? and is so what date did they do this? They may have changed procedure.

Had recall done late late last summer. I don't know about the mix? The sheet metal guards were just screwed to the back of refrig. Instead of being wrapped around flue. It's kind of hard to explain what they did, have to show you, but I waited 2 hrs. for them to do it.

No problems with the fix here.
Good news is, if you don't trust the repair, I don't think Norcold would mind if you went over and bought one of their shiny new refrigerators!

Janalee,
Thanks for this thread. Since we have the same model and year Sunline as you, we just checked our fridge model & serial number on the Dometic site and ours is also on the list. Matthew's going to check to see if the PO had the recall done and, if not, I'm sure he'll have some questions for JohnB and others.
Update: DH checked and our recall was done! Matthew said it looked exactly like what JohnB did.
