And I know for a fact there is no strainer or screen on the manual tank fill hose entry to the tank. At least in 2004 vintages. I do have a strainer in the low point pocket.

John: On my '07 there is something (between the angle of the pipe and it's far enough in not to be visible) that keeps me from putting anything but liquids in the tank. I can't insert the hose more than about an 3/4" inch (forget stuffing the hose in and doing something else while the tank fills) and due to the angle it's almost impossible to use a funnel when trying to put the bleach in for sanitizing. Don't know when the changed, but I cuss it everytime I work with the tank.

I always open that locked manual fill door to put water, bleach or pink antifreeze in. When I add water I stick the hose in and walk away. So I just went out to double check. On my 2007 Que there is NO strainer or screen like JohnB said on his 2004. You can see in at least 10 inches or more.

From my last post.......
"I always open that locked manual fill door to put water, bleach or pink antifreeze in. When I add water I stick the hose in and walk away."
...I just remembered why the hose fits in so good it's because I have a brass pressure control shut off valve on the end...

Mack, h'mm good info. Again we learn something new that changed over the model years or at least on certain models.
Like luvrque's I can shove my fill hose in a good foot and walk away. I have a special fill hose end about 2 feet long that I cut off the end of the hose to get ride of the brass barb of the hose fitting so it does not get stuck on the ribbed fill hose.
I would say, for sure the ice cube insertion trick or ordeal.... will not work well on you model.

OK Joe, what is the gizmo you have on the end of the hose? I'm always up for learning about new gizmo's

LOL....I wish.....I can't even get the standard brass end to disappear, but then again a "good foot" and it would be in the tank (seriously, the whole line isn't over 2' to 3' long). So, now that I hear the '07 Ques don't have anything in them, I'm starting to wonder if it's the installation. My fill is located between the door and the axles, it's about 4' off the ground. The hose goes straight down in the wall into the tank, which is located underneath the trailer, just in front of the axles. I'm wondering if the hose is turned so sharp (or an elbow, maybe?) that the hose won't pass.

John,
I just took some photos....You can click the photo for a Much Better view...
It's a Marshall Brass Co. Water Pressure Regulator with a on/off valve pressure is preset @ 40-50 PSI.
I put it in with the valve shut off then turn it on and adjust the flow of water without going to the end of the hose @ the faucet valve. When I am done I can shut it off without going to the to the end of the 25 or 50 ft. hose again........
I don't remember where I bought it.
I just searched the internet and can't find one with the on/off valve.

Joe, Thanks for the pics. I have a simalar setup, a brass hose shut off and then I screwed on a 18" long potable water home with no male end on it. I can shove the hose down the tank fill pipe a good 6 to 10 inches so it will not blow out.
Thanks
John

I virtually never use the fill door to put water into my trailer. I feed water into my tank via the water tanks drain.
My drain goes down thru the floor. I replaced the drain's single opening faucet with a dual opening faucet. One side of the dual is used to drain the tank, its normal function.
The other side of the faucet is connected to the output of my water filter.
The output of the water filter has a dual output valve as well. One side of the dual goes to the normal 'street' water input; the other side goes to the remaining valve of the drain of the water tank.
In this way all water put into the tank is filtered water, no concern for sticking the hose into a hole.
As well, the input side of the water filter has a quick disconnect, like an air hose connector.
Lastly the water filter is strapped to the outside of a frame member with a pressure regulator located just before the filter.

Yesterday, I finally had a day to work on the tank.
It was easier to remove than I anticipated.
It did help that I already had some extra tall jack stands. I used those to prop up the steel frame.
Anyway, I got the tank out and sure enough, there was plenty of crud in there. Nothing alive it seemed. The chlorine apparently did the trick.
So, I put the little brass jet nozzle on the garden hose and, of course, it did NOT fit through the fill hose opening. I sprayed what I could see from the opening.
Then, I took a took a 5 foot long piece of 1/4 inch tubing and jammed it onto the nozzle. Then I ziptied the tube to a 1/2 inch wooden dowel leaving about 4 inches of tubing free at the end. Finally, I tied a string to the free end of the tubing.
That allowed me to insert the tubing all the way from one end of the tank to the other and still maintain a reasonably high pressure jet. By turning the dowel and pulling on the string, I could bend the tubing to direct the jet against the sides. It worked great. I was able to clean all the dried crud out of the tank. I rinsed it thoroughly several times, let it dry, and reinstalled, all in one day.
My drain connector does have a filter on it. Why would one NOT filter what went into the tank, but filter what drains out? Seems backwards to me.
