Propane Tank Paint?

I've got the larger propane tank/bottle (40#?) and it could stand a coat of paint. Are there any regulations as to what color it has to be? White is kinda ho-hum, and was wondering if silver/metallic or some other color is acceptable. I don't have a clue about DOT regs, if any. Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Dale

You can paint your bottles as long as you stay with light reflective colors. Silver and gray used to be the norm.

That's cute! LOL! Is there any requirement to keep certain labels on it? Mine are kind of ragged and coming off. Just wondering if they need replaced or if I need to be sure the bottle is labelled in any way? Are the stampings enough on the collar?

Thanks,
-Dale

My new 30# only have markings stamped in handle area. Nothing in printed paper sticker form

They are hard to confuse because of the left hand threads I don't think there is any required color.

Dale,

The place I get my tanks filled, has new stickers available. They are the flammable gas stickers, that come on the tanks new.

Worth looking into!
