Pre season check list

I'm putting together a check list of items to look at before using my camper each season. I was looking for addition items to add. So far I have:

tire pressure including spare
lug nuts tight
brakes and bearings
LP tank full and no leaks
battery water and tighten connections
clean out gas tubes in water heater and heater
test refrigerator on electric and gas and clean out cobwebs from burner area

JohnB is on a distinguished road
Good list. Here are some more.

- Check tires for side wall and tread cracks.
- Check roof sealant for cracks/splits all over and fix up with Dicro roof sealant
- Check roof vents, AC cover and shower dome for cracks
- While your on the roof, spray silicone on the Wingard antenna per their instructions. Gears, rotary pivot system and folding arm pivots.
- Check terminals in the power convertor/distribution box for loose screws.
- If your WD hitch uses grease or should, grease it and the tow ball.
- Check all trailer stop, turn and body lights.
- With the 7 wire plug out of the truck, pull the emergency break away plug and put silicone on the rubber seal. Some times these get jammed and stuck in never to pull out.
- Spray silicone lube on the black and dry tank slider valves blades to lube them
- Dry lube if that is what you use, the stabilizer jacks.
- When weather warms up, sanitize the fresh water system.
- Flush out the hot water heater for sediment in the bottom with a flush out tool
- Clean out the faucet aerator screens after you flush the HW heater....

- Wash roof, camper and awning. The 1st wash of the year if your stored outside can be a big one.
- Once clean use 303 UV protectent or other brand on roof plastic and other camper outside plastic and vinyl

You do not have a slide, so you do not need that maintenance.

We do an inside total spring cleaning.

I'm sure there are a few other things too.

Good luck and happy camping.

This is a great idea. The files has a check list but it does not include everything on the list or simplified. Will or could you, include some how-to so newbies like myself will not only know what to check but how to do it safely like cleaning out the gas tubes and a reminder where to find these tubes which may not be in the same location for all various size, type and model campers. Mine in particular is an older model - 1984 Sunline T-1650. There is a floor plan in the files but it is only a layout of the exterior. I have yet to find documentation (with images) identifying the various exterior-to-interior items like the heater gas tubes.

Thanks Lost Hunter...and everyone else.

Cleaning out water heater gas tubing

Here is a picture of the water heater burner tube. To remove and make it easier to clean you need to remove 4 screws.

Here is the gas burner tube removed from water heater.

This is the area that you really need to make sure is clear of cobwebs. This is petty clean for being stored for the winter.

I also like cleaning up the mating surfaces of the ignition mounting brackets to help ensure for a good ground.
