Poor FM reception

Our Rockwood came with a great audio system and works well except for radio reception. No Wx band, few FM stations. We took a portable with us on our last trip and pulled in stations right and left. Example: Listening to 88.9FM loud and clear on the portable inside the trailer. The onboard radio was nothing but fuzz on that frequency.
Anyone have a clue? Bad antenna? Loose antenna cable? No antenna ground?

Hmm, not my area of expertise but I'd check the antenna connections first. I know they just push in (not snap) on many radios.

Yeah antenna issues if you have a 3' piece of wire just remove the antenna plug and stick the wire in the center if the FM comes to life some thing is up with the coax or the antenna.

On my Jayco the antenna lead extension came loose in ceiling. Had to remove speakers to trace lead and find where it went together

What mainah said. Maybe the factory or dealer didn't wire up the antenna.

If you have the Genesis Radio as I do in my Rockwood, it seems that bad FM and WX reception is the norm. I saw where if you can find the adaptor from antenna connection to cable, you can hook it up to the batwing TV antenna for directional and better reception. Search the Forest River Forum on the same subject to find the adaptor.

Thanks, I found RodeoGeorge's solution and have ordered the cable to hook the radio to the TV antenna.

Mine came today. This weekend I'll hook the radio up to the TV antenna. Then I'll have directional and a boosted signal for FM and NOAA hopefully. In both cases the freq's are within the range of the TV antenna.

Success! NOAA coming in loud and clear. I'll put 'er to the test in the mountains of SW Virginia next weekend. Had to say good-bye to AM reception, but I've discovered the local NPR stations are good sources for today's weather, too.

Yep. Couldn't get NOAA from the driveway and get it now. I split the cable down stream of the booster. No signal without booster and great signal with it on. Can't raise the antenna because of power wire above in the driveway si the batwing is flat.

AM seems to worl well too. The whole setup took me about an hour.
