Pex Connection Question

Bought a new toilet for the T-2370 and need to add about 2” to the water supply. Bought a Pex cutter and will be adding a cut of valve with Shark Bite. I’ve never worked with Pex before or Shark Bite. How critical is the cut? I see they sell a de-burring tool. Do I need that?

I’d like to do it right the first time.

I've never used one, but do whatever is comfortable for you.

As with anything the better and more square and deburred the cut the less chance of an issue later.
That said I've done some not so pretty cuts and the sharkbite fittings with PEX is very forgiving.
It is possible that deburred may make it easier to remove the fitting with the provided tool...not an easy task in any case! Once they are on they are unlikely to move!

The cut is not critical at all, try to cut it as straight as possible, however even a un-perfect cut works just fine with Shark Bite fittings.

No you do not need a de-burring tool. Especially if you cut the PEX with a PVC cutter. (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hose-PVC-...&wl13=&veh=sem

If you were to cut the PEX with a hacksaw, then you would need to de-burr using a a simple box cutter.

Thanks to all.
I think I’m getting better at plumbing the older I get. Last 2 camper jobs were leak free from the get go which is highly unusual for me.[emoji3]

Like I said, this was my first experience with Shark Bite (the cut off valve) and must say I’m impressed......
