Parasitic Power Drain Search
I'm just posting this as it may save someone some time down the road.
I've had a parasitic power drain on my batteries for a while now, but I keep the coach plugged in at home and we haven't dry camped in years so I just ignored it.
Before going dry camping this weekend I went looking for the source of the drain. After checking the batteries, shutting off the propane detector, and pulling fuses I isolated the drain to the Galley/Fridge circuit. Checked the fuses on the fridge circuit board and found that pulling the half amp fuse stopped the drain.
I decided to check online forums for ideas and one mentioned that when boondocking be sure to turn off the climate control switch on the fridge which on my Dometic RM2652 is just inside the freezer above the door. The climate control is a heating element behind the door seal which keeps frost from forming at the seal. It only draws about .9 amp but that will kill the battery pretty quickly.
I felt kind of foolish because I've owned the camper for four years and never knew about the switch, but on the other hand I'm grateful that it was an easy solution.
