Painting plastic

The black propane tank cover on my Rockwood is now grey. Even 303 can't bring it back, so I've decided to paint it.
What kind of rattle-can paint is best and is there anything tricky about the prep?

Krylon Fusion with very light and multiple coats.

I would prep by washing it, letting it dry, and then rub it down with some rubbing alcohol on a towel to get rid of any chemical residue that may react with the paint.

I have used the Rustoleum plastic paint on my inside roof vent surrounds and have had mixed results. Mostly negative.

Suggest trying the Krylon Fusion like Sunline Fan stated. I know I will not use the Rustoleum plastic paint again.

Have you tried Meguiar's Ultimate Black? Not a paint, but designed to make black plastic look new again. I use it on black Weathertech floor mats after they turn grey and it works like magic.

Those kinds of products probably won’t last too long for something exposed to the elements 24/7. I’d say two weeks to a month and it would look faded again.

True, but Maguire's is mo' spensive.

I had good luck painting plastic exposed to the weather (swimming pool trim) but you have to prime the plastic.

I use sem plastic primer but rustolium has one now also google plastic primer for advice mike
