Oven in 2004 sunline Solaris T2199 not working

The gas stove top works fine but the oven does not seem to ignite any thoughts on why?

RV ovens are very difficult to light, and usually takes a few tries. It's rare for something to go wrong with them, but it's possible. Are you using a click lighter to try to light the oven?

Hi AnnMarie...I hope to be of some un-technical help here...there is actually two "pilots" in the oven that come into play for safety reasons..you will light the first one and it will in turn heat up the thermocouple that will release the gas to the second(primary) one and will then ignite your burner. First you must make sure there is no air in the line by turning on the top burners and getting a nice steady flame. It does take a minute or so but unless you are getting an odor don't panic.Janalee

Hi Anne Marie,

Can you explain to us the process you are doing when trying to get the oven to light?

While some of the Sunline top stove burners had the electric spark ignition system option to light the burners, it was not normal on a Sunline that Sunline installed an electric spark ignition system for the oven. The oven needs to be lit manually and it can be a bugger to light sometimes. If you tried to light the oven by hand, tell us in as much detail as you can how you are doing it.

Hope this helps

John

Thanks John. I will try to light it by hand this weekend and see what happens. All I tried so far was just turning it on lol this is new to me as far as rv ovens go. Can you explain to me how to light it by hand? Where to do that?

Hi Anne Marie,

No worries, some of these RV things are not intuitive...

Here is a link to the Atwood instructions on lighting the oven. If your camper came with a manual, this would be in there too as a hard copy. This is the big 3 ring Sunline binder.

Log in and download this copy from our Files section. Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files - Atwood LP Gas Range Manual

On the left bottom of page 3 it tells how to light the oven, and on page 5, area 1 it shows where to light it. The picture is a little small and hard to read but I'll pass along some tips.

The oven pilot and main burner is under the gray metal sheet metal shelf in the lower part of the oven. The pilot is all the way in the back. It is hard to describe the actual pilot as this does not really look like a household pilot on a stove or hot water heater. It is a small round tip about 1/8" in diameter and has a small tube feeding it.

Use a long grill lighter and hold it burning in the area of the pilot in the oven while holding the oven gas knob in and turned to the Pilot setting. The pilot gas will only flow when you are holding the gas knob in while lighting. Once the pilot lights, keep holding the gas knob in a short while. The thermocouple in the oven will warm up, send the signal the oven is lit and then you can release the knob. Double check that it stayed lit, as sometimes you did not hold it long enough and you have to do it over again.

Once the pilot is lit, and stays lit then you can turn the gas knob all the way and the oven will main burner will light. When you are done using the oven, we turn the oven off as a safety feature. The pilot will go out then.

Also, crack open the window near the sink or oven in your layout to let fresh air in when using the stove, burners or oven. The oven vents inside the camper. The vent is in the back of the stove top area.

Good luck and hope this helps

John
