Orginal Radio in T-2053
I have a Sunline T-2053 with the radio missing . The space looks much larger than the size of a car radio and the location is on the upper cabinet . I suspect it was a model that had a combination radio and cassette player but the tape player had a door that opened outward as oppossed to the style found in the car making the unit much larger in size .
Does anyone have information on make and model of this unit , like to replace it with an original manufactures equipment . If such a unit is not available does anyone have any ideas what would fit in the existing opening , Thanks Rich

Newer radios are all DIN sizes the width is the same (7") but the double DIN is 4" tall instead of 2" if that helps you I can say a modern radio is light years ahead of the old ones. There is a company that makes retro radios but mostly for cars as oem as in shaft mounting style.

Measure your rough opening for the radio.
The original was most likely an RV style AM/FM/Cassette (or CD depending on the age of your trailer.) They were generally low grade stuff. Mine crapped out and I replaced it with automotive radio we got out of an '02 Grand Cherokee. Worked a heck of a lot better and had a lot more power. I had to modify the cabinetry to make it work. Here's what I did: http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...dio-10368.html
You can find RV radios on Ebay and there are some surplus RV houses that occasionally have them, too.
FWIW, moving to a standard aftermarket radio, even if you have to make up filler plates for the cabinet, is a much better choice than trying to find the original model.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with a '96, don't you have a huge opening, like 18" wide and 5" tall or so?

Hey, Thanks for all your comments. I did check Ebay and found a seller that had several of the original radio units still in box never used for sale at $13 each. Although I could , like so many others , modify the opening for a smaller car size radio I decided to stay with the original manufactures equipment even if not high quality. Now I can use all my cassette tapes again , beside that , sort of like the vintage vibe . Hey, won't I be roughing it without my ipod and cd's ,,,,ha,ha,ha , commune with nature instead of high tech.
The cassette player is a setup from my 8 track cartridge player and phonograph

That's understandable, Rich. I'd do the same too, as I'm a purist. I don't know what the exact original model would have been, but I believe it was gray. Hit us up with the model info and maybe a pic so it's on file here if you get a chance.

Hmm, I didn't realize the '96 vintage had that as well. That's the same one our '97 had, which I bought that exact radio a couple years ago to have around because it was so cheap.
Hopefully all your needed wiring is still in the trailer so you won't have to do much to get it up and running.

Look back through Forum Admin & Site Help - Sunline Coach Owner's Club - there are a number of threads and posts about this. The "sticky" at the beginning of the forum has that info as well.
The info you seek is already here for the reading.

Here is a photo of the Sunline T-2053 orginial style radio I purchased on Ebay . By the way , they also had listed a similar style radio with a cd player , I opted for the cassette .The previous owner installed a car radio but it does not work, probably wired in wrong . The good news is all the wiring is in-tact , easily accessible in cabinet , plus the new radio comes with monting screws , wiring harness and wiring diagram .
Encore by Electric Brand , model 7695

Nope, it's a '96 T-1700. Your VIN and build date confirmed that. Unless you bought a new trailer that I didn't know about?

HI Sunline Fan , Your right , I did buy a new trailer ! Sold my 1996 T-1700 and towed home a 1997 T-2053 . I mentioned to the new owners about this site , you might see the T-1700 trailer vin registered again.
I will undate my info by end of week . Hope I did not confuse to many readers.

Ah, it all makes sense now!! Indeed, the radio you bought is the exact equipment for a 1997.
