no gas to the water heater or furnace.

The stove works just fine, I'm trying to test the furnace and hot water heater lit but I'm getting no gas to either one. Any suggestions? Is there a shut off valve I'm not seeing? Please help if you can.

I believe the furnace has a gas valve but I don't think the water heater does. Both take awhile to light even if you have run the stove. Fridge works OK on gas?

Hi,

Sorry I do not remember what year camper you have. Do remember you where fixing yours up.

Does both the HW heater and the Furnace have a pilot light? Or are they electric ignition, at least the furnace?

And have these 2 appliances ever been fired up by you?

If they are pilot operated it can take a long time to purge the line out with a pilot. The newer DSI (Direct Spark Ignition ) units purge fast as the main gas valve goes wide open and then the DSI starts clicking so you can purge quick.

Before I start assuming what you have and directing you wrong, can you provide a camper year and model numbers off the furnace and HW heater?

Really need to know if they have ever worked for you and now stopped working or they never yet where fired up? Different trouble shooting.

My water heater is all the way in the stern end of mine and, as mainah said, it often takes a long time and several tries to light my water heater when the tanks have been disconnected.

I have heard of people getting oil in the LP lines but that is rare. I don't know of a safe way to blow it out if that is the problem. Since the stove works you know that part of the line (tank, regulator, line) is ok.

Gene, the oil is real and comes out of the rubber hose between the regulator and the main metal trunk line. The LP gas has a reaction with the rubber hose and the result is the oil.

I have this problem on my BBQ and outside gas stove. It may even be more aggravated by the higher pressure as I do not have the issue so much on the camper, but do on the outside BBQ grill and stove hose. The hose is about 7 feet long, problem 1, and it is a high pressure hose right off the portable 5 lb LP tank. So there is up to 150 psi of LP gas in some hot summer time cases up to the stove regulator where it drops down to 5 psi. verses 0.5 psi the camper hose has after the regulator. I have found after about 2 to 3 years I have oil dripping droplets coming out of hose on the downstream end. It is not a gusher, more like 6 to maybe 10 droplets of oil. I let it run out and keep on going.

On the camper, they have a ½” pipe down the bottom of the camper and a big hose from the main tank regulator. It would take a long time to fill it up to stop gas flow. However it may make it’s way to an appliance valve if gravity favored towards the valve.

To get rid of it, if you have it, you need to unhook and plug off all the appliance valves, so you do not rupture the valve diaphragms, unhook the rubber hose up front from the metal pipe and using compressed air blow from the farthest point towards the tanks. Then the hose, take off the regulator and when out in the open and both ends open, then blow out the hose. The hose is low pressure, about 5 psi hose so you do not want to use much if any pressure. More like gravity and low pressure, high volume air.
