Update; So I did another shake, rock, and roll,.. plugged it in,.. went back 45 mins later and I swear the freezer plate felt cold ! ....but then after another hr or so it seemed to warm up again,.. I dont know,.. crazy.

But, in the meanwhile I found this beauty in PA, (only a 2 hr drive on a rainy day), its out of a 2007 Wilderness,... the lady I bought it from swear it'll freeze ice cubes in 2.5 hrs,... we shall see....

Its a model RM2652,... 3 inches taller and 2 inches wider than my original,..I have the room to fit it in the cabinet,... but it was a shoe horn of a job getting it through the front door, and also the handles are on the wrong side but I hear there a kit to reverse them.,.... I'll have install pic in a couple days

Wow, the RM2652 is a much newer fridge. Many of the newer Sunlines have that model. There is also a recall that would need to be done on it, if it does not have it. It's free at any Dometic RV dealer.

The recall looked like this. There is more sheet metal heat shields around the burner area and some added thermal sensors to shut down the fridge if it gets way to hot.

The added sensors on the burner stack. One a thermal disk switch the other a thermal melting fuse.

Something to check is the camper roof vent and ideally the wall side vent are large enough for the airflow on the RM2652. They may be the same are your old one or not. Here is the install and owners manual http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/opera...2operation.pdf

You can also add a 12 volt muffin fan up in the roof vent if you have vent hole size issues versus cutting a hole in the roof. Point being, these fridges need the right natural convection to work right.

Good luck. Your on a roll now!

John

Your info has been extremely helpful John,... I recall seeing the larger aluminum shield so Im thinking this unit has had the recall done,.. but I will verify all the points on your photo tomorrow in the day light. This unit also has one of those computer fans just below the upper coils. Im assuming it blows upwards as Ive heard this type of ventilation helps with convection and efficiency,.. I did verify that I have correct clearances inside cabinet and venting areas with the install manual. My camper vents straight up through the roof. I would like to add a second fan as you mentioned up in the roof vent if you think this would helpful.... my thoughts are that the more ventilation the better she should work. I should be able to tap right into the existing fan to add a second fan. Are these fans typically thermal switched, or on all the time ?

I have added the fans myself up the top vent. They for sure make the unit cool better. I have done a few of these fan upgrades. I used to have about 38 to 42 in the fridge as the coldest it would get. And it was warmer on really hot days. When I added the fan she came down quicker and stay cooler around 33 to 34 on the Valterra fan. I have a wireless remote temp senor that I put in the fridge to read the temp all the time and not open the door.

Here is one I bought from Valterra. It worked good until the fan died after a few years.
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...fan-10679.html

And here is the latest. BenB did one and so did I. I copied his fan and switch after I told him my Valterra kit died. Sort of in the family...
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...fan-17532.html

Yes, we added a thermal disk switch to turn the fan on and off as needed. And fused it.

There is a point when it can get a little too efficient. And even sliding the thermistor inside on the metal fins, I could not get it warm enough to not be below freezing in side. My last install I linked above had a 3 speed fan. On high it was so effective it was 30 in the fridge. I slowed the fan to low and no I hover around 32 to 34 with a full packed fridge, so I'm good.

Where is the fan located on the new fridge you bought? Got a pic? Dometic actually does make them mounted on the back of the fridge with disk sensors even. Just the RV world is so cheap they do not install them. Maybe you scored and have a Dometic install. Or the one you bought was in a camper slide where they have to have a fan to force the convection. There is no roof hole on them, the top vent is in the side pf the slide.

Ok,..curiosity got the best of me and I went in the garage and snapped more pictures of the back. I removed the Larger sheet metal as shown in your picture,.. and it appears to have the thermal cut-off switch on the burner,..but I dont see the fusible link you refereed to. The fan as you can see is located aprox 8 in above the lower coils directed to the center of the upper fins.

The fuseable link is there in this pic. You can barely see it.

Follow the red wire off of the thermal disk switch towards the back of the burner tube. Encased in a black sleeve stuffed in the back is the fusible link. Another red wire comes out of that black sleeve and then goes to the control board area.

The fan location will work OK there. It looks tie wrapped on. Maybe not a factory install?? Don't know. It will be complex to ever service if it dies as you have to pull the fridge to get to it, but it will work. If it ever does die, then you could abandon it and add one up in the roof vent. Suggest testing it before you put the fridge in to make sure it works. Never know when they are to go.

This is how I have seen Dometic do it as a factory install. They have a bracket made to hold the fans.

The 2652 is installed and working 110% ,...made ice cubes in under 3 hrs... I ordered the hinge reversal kit.

,... oh and another update; the old frig,.. after several inversions,.. tapping on pipes and getting fluid moving,... is working ! ..so the theory is proven to work. !

Wow. The new fridge looks great. Even the doors match pretty well to the camper cabinets.

Good for you!

On the gas line, the pressure rating needs to be able to handle ideally 1 psi. The system is slightly lower then that but the extra provides protection against high regulator spikes.

I do not know the rating on the one you linked on eBay. Do you have access to 3/8 flexible copper tubing and a flare tool? A buddy maybe? Then can make up a copper pice to add in there

Recall

There was a recall on a part for some Dometic refrigerators which can cause a fire. You may want to look into that.
